Type of fence will be a factor in price.
These saws are very tough.
Look for any obvious damage to fence rails.
Tilt/Height adjust work smoothly?
Blade wobble?

Spendy to ship so local P/U will be a bonus.

Check Craigs list & Ebay for comparisons.

That first one seems like a pretty good score, if one has that kind of power available.

The prices I'm seeing on Craigslist around me are all over the map. To check prices in your area try searchtempest.com. It searches all the craigslists in an area you specify. It's a good way to get a feel for comparable values.

The fence and mobile base are worth as much as that saw.

I don't particularly care for that era of Delta's.

I bought a 1990 PM66 with 54" beis fence, 5hp 3ph, with motor cover, both table extensions and a large right side table for a bit under $1,000.

IMO, the PM's are a way better built saw.

Re: What Is A 8 Yr Old Delta Unisaw Worth?

It depends on how bad he wants to sell it.

I have seen late model one's sell for around 600 bucks but, they may have not had long fence rails and the mobile base.

Single phase equipment will go for more $$$ then 3 phase stuff. That is one of the main reasons I set up 3 phase. I do like buying old stuff with newer large HP single phase motors though, I can usually re-coup most of my investment selling off the motor.

I have 2 lines on all the cheap old 3 phase motors I can handle.

Re: What Is A 8 Yr Old Delta Unisaw Worth?

We bought a similar Delta 2 years ago for our shop. Local business was selling because they didn't use it and needed the space. We gave 250...I know we stole it! I would offer 500 to start..only you know what you are comfortable in spending vs. How much you will use it.

Bargain basement price maybe 600 bucks, that might insult him too though.

I am thinking the area of 800 to 900 bucks is not bad.

That era of saws was really cheapened up by Delta though.

Re: What Is A 8 Yr Old Delta Unisaw Worth?

I followed used UNISAW prices with great interest as I was in the market and purchased mine, very similar with extended base and table, about three years ago. Paid 700. for a saw in very good condition, and was prepared to pay more but worked a deal as the saw was in a workshop at the back of a large wooded lot and difficult to remove.

Provided the bearings and arbor are tight, and all else in is good shape, I'd consider an initial offer of 800. and max out at 1000.

Agree PM's of the same age probably are a slightly better saw, but UNISAWs are work horses and there are many more to choose from out there.

Good luck, you'll be very satisfied with a UNISAW.

Re: What Is A 8 Yr Old Delta Unisaw Worth?

I really don't care that much for the Beis style fence.

Too difficult to attach any sort of sub fence, axillary attachments and so forth.

I have a couple saws with short rip fences that are close to the front of the table and I find them easier to use when ripping lumber.

I'd offer him $700. I got my Jet unisaw for that and it had the Delta Unifence on it which is pretty equivalent to the that fence.

Even if it has spent bearings they are likely $20-30 a pair and take about 2 hours to change out.

My Jet saw was about 15 years old, I used it while I was working for somebody and then when I went on my own I bought it. 5 years later the bearings started to go. I bought a new Delta and the thing is sweet, much more truer than the Jet. Put in $20.10 worth of bearings about 2 years later and the saw is singing again.
