Wagner Power Tex texture sprayer????
Does anybody have any experience with this texture sprayer?

It is made by (gulp) Wagner so it scares me to death.
I was looking at it in the paint store as a possibility as a nice tool for doing spot texture, touch ups or small repairs. The hopper I use is great for full rooms, but messy and time consuming to set up, break down and clean up. This thing is electric and breaks into 2 parts for easy clean up. The idea is I could mix a little texture, plug this into any household outlet and spray, break it down, wash it and be done.
Obviously the main criteria is will it spray in a way that gives the same results as the hopper but just on a smaller scale? Or is it another Wagner tool that you will use one time and throw away in disgust?

I've been looking at this in some magazines too. You can be the Guinnie Pig Mike :-)
I will be watching to see if anyone has beat you to the pen.
I tried one of the sprayers a few years ago. Actually I did a fence with it. Then took it back. It did OK but I wouldn't be able to stand the noise very long especially indoors.

My guess is the wagner will not project the mud far enough to be more effective than a hand pumped unit.
For the smallest of repairs we use this "little guy." It's put out by Homax and I think they mean it to be disposable. I know they last a couple years w everyday use. It will do from orange peel to a heavy knockdown.
But if you like power tools to dazzle clients, wagner looks like fun!

Just talked with my SW store today about this. 100 bucks. I think I'll be getting one soon. They say it works great and they are flying out the door.
Mike did you ever try it?

Great tool for repairs. I would not use it for a whole bathroom but as I said it great for repairs. I use to use the spray cans of texture for repairs but they get very expensive.

I thought I had replied to this thread a long time ago about it??
Oh well. Anyways, it's a good concept, but a poor execution I think, at least in this version. It needs more power and smaller nozzles. It works okay for doing a knock down touch up, but for orange peal it isn't so great. Mostly because I think of the lack of power so it throws out globs instead of the nice fine spray you need for orange peal to look right.
I would classify it as a good tool for knock down touch up only, because the globs it throws are too big and too odly shaped for doing texture where what you spray is what it looks like. With knock down you smoosh the texture out so it's less of an issue.
I would like to find that little homax hand pump, but I haven't been able to find any around.

The only problem that i have had with Wagner anything is that the motor or pump burns up after 1-2 uses. So my only problem would be reliability. Looks neat though.

Finally found that Homex hand pump!
Retired the Wagner to a dark, spiderweb covered shelf in the garage.
Basically anything that would call for that Wagner is small enough to be taken care of with the little hand pump. Hand pumper is quicker and easier to use.
Another Wagner product bites the dust.

the Power tex with a twist
Hello all.. I had the opportunity to test this unit for free through the handyman club of america. It is a great little tool. I did however modify it to make it work for my needs. It will give you a nice orange peel finish, but if you want a heavier knock down, it is hard to accomplish. What i did was put a dimmer switch ( regular 110v) inline so I could control how fast the fan would spin. I had complete control over the spray texture and it is perfect for those small repairs. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Wagner also own Titan as I was told when I bought my Titan 640i. I would consider Wagner stuff to be handyman quality rather than trade quality. It seems that despite Wagner owning Titan, Titan continues to make good stuff because my airless sprayer has done some serious work and is a great bit of kit and very high quality.

I have one of these, it's worthless for its intended purpose, but it worked great for spraying Drylok waterproofer in a basement.
