Its actually made by plustech, and is designed for the forestry industry.

I was watching extreme machines on Discovery channel last year and they showed a machine with the same principal as this JD unit. It had 6 or 8 legs and a back hoe digger on it. They claimed it to be able to transverse 60* hills, set-up and start excavating. It was very cool watching this thing crab walk up/down hills that were exrememly steep, wish I could remember more about it for a link, but it was actually a working money making machine that's in use in the feild, not a proto type like this thing....sure they have this JD walking, but what are they gonna do with it now?
