Veto Toolbag

Anyone here use the Veto Pro pac toolbag? From what I see they look pretty well made and handy but the price is the big thing. The smaller ones are $100 and the bigger ones go for $140-$199. I think for the money a CLC is the smarter choice.

Glad you see the humor in it, I thought it was funny. I have been knocking Veto about the prices since they came out. Well now they are the "official toolbag of HVAC-talk.com" and they banned me for my signature line. It was "A fool and his money soon part ways, usually after meeting Veto". I was ticked they booted me for that, so I don't think I want to go back. I have a thing for freedom of speech and figure if you can't have an opinion about a toolbag that differs from the moderator that's pretty bad.

Cool signature! Are you going to change you avatar to a picture of the bag with $$$$? I own two of the bags, I list them as assets when I apply for loans

Then you'd have to ban guys that don't like your sponsors?
And that isn't cool.

No, we would never do that and we make it clear to all of our advertisers that we wont prevent people from talking bad about them because just because they buy an ad.

I was just saying they are clever at marketing.

Re: Veto Toolbag

I use the Veto tool bag, I have used pretty much all of them over the years, this is the best bag I have ever owned, it keeps my tools well organised and easy to get to, and I do not mind paying for quality products, the better equipment I have the better I can do my job.

And I am far from rich !!!!!!

I own these two. If you view them as something that will last 10-20-30 years the price is easier to understand. Out of all the crap that I buy I only promote 4 items:

veto pro bags, Zircon stud finders, makita SCMS and I forget the fourth but I know I have promoted enough of the bags to at least get a free one (hasn't happened). If you buy them at the JLC shows they hook you up with a free t-shirt.

Note-stare at the bags for 10 seconds and like magic they open and you see tools.

Re: Veto Toolbag

How's the Veto work when you're servicing a unit in the rain? Does it have provisions to keep your tools reasonably dry? Seems like 50% of the time that I'm wrenching on an RTU, it's raining, and I'm a bag-wearing type of guy. Never really did the tool tote thing. Even the slightest rain makes every pair of pliers stiff until you oil them up again.

The outside of the bag gets wet but I don't think water gets inside. The bottom has a pan made of some sort of plastic that does not crack. I would assume if water got in then my tools would be rusty or I would at least have water in the pan. The internal pouches are all elevated off of the base so I don't think a little water would hurt. I like my hand tools to much to leave my bag outside in the pouring rain for a full test.

The guy that owns the company is straight up, call him and ask him. When I went to buy my 2nd bag because I liked the lower pockets (small tools were getting lost) he told me to fill the tall sleeves with rigid foam--he didn't want to sell me a 2nd bag. We both thought the other person was nutty.

Nathan should see if they will offer a line with the ContractorTalk logo. He could add them to the contractor talk store, next to the t-shirts.

Re: Veto Toolbag

Mock me if you want, but I am a huge fan of the Veto bags. CLC, M-N and others make similar products, but I have not had a lot of luck with them. The Veto is very well made. Pay $100 for a bag, or $35 for a bag that lasts 1/4 the time. I'll spend the money now.

Re: Veto Toolbag

The Veto bags are pretty great. I have the XXL-F, the big 25" long sucker and love it. The best part of the big bag is the completely open side to toss a 24" level, handsaw, and drill in. Do yourself a favor and look on ebay for the veto bags, you can usually get them about 20% off full retail for a new bag.

As for the smaller bags search on amazon for "Custom LeatherCraft 1539 18 Multi-Compartment Tool Carrier" (I'd post a link but I'm a newb and can't), which while not constructed the same as the veto is still a great bag, might be better in some ways. In addition to the millions pockets on both sides it has a center area that is great for holding bigger items like a drill and what not. The also offer a smaller version with pockets on one side, search amazon for "Custom LeatherCraft 1537 13 Multi-Compartment Tool Carrier"
