Unlock Me!! Help !!

Ok here's the problem I have a Dewalt Model # DC728 1/2" Cordless with a Jacobs 500 series chuck. I've had it about a yr. The chuck just seems to have latched onto the bit and I can't get it to open back up to release, it's not the bit thats important, I'd just like to continue using the drill.
Anyone experience this kind of problem with thiers? Any ideas of getting it to open ( not counting taking a sledge to it cause I've already concidered that ) Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I've had to use a couple of pipe wrenches on my old 1/2", to break it free.

Yeah, I have it happen every so often. I use a large pair of slip-joint pliers with a rag to protect the chuck.

Hey... I always look at that kind of situation as an excuse to go and buy a new drill... Man those Ridgid 24V Lithiums look nice

You can tap the circumference of the chuck with a hammer, then run it in reverse (if that's an option) with the bit in a vise. The slipping bit causes a 'camming' action which can lock up the chuck tighter than Dick's hatband.

try spraying white grease into the chuck a bit. That's what I do when I've had problems with my 1/2" hammer drill.

Turn on an old 'WHO' song, - - and then SMASH THE DAMN THING TO SMITHEREEN'S!!
