Trailer Prices?
Hey guys I was looking into getting a trailer. I was thinking about probly a 6'x12' probly a single axel maybe a double if there are good advantages. What should I expect to pay for a decent 6x12? Or maybe a used 6x12? I am gonna stop at my local trailer dealer, but they aren't open till monday. I was just looking for a little insite.
Thanks, Dave |

Re: Trailer Prices?
You can check out ebay... There is some VERY good prices on new trailers there.
I paid $2300 for my used double axle 6x12 and that was a REALLY good deal here. I could probably resell for $3,000 now. But trailers are expensive here.

Re: Trailer Prices?
Bought a 3 year old "ACME" 6x12 for $900. It's in great shape with good rubber and a spare. Will have it painted Silver with my logo in the spring. Former owner surface mounted some electric and lighting. Good set up for me.

Re: Trailer Prices?
It really depends on the trailer and what you are using it for. A friend if mine has a 6x12 double axle trailer he uses for his mobile truck service business, we found it used for $1,000. My trailer cost me $31,000, but it is 8.5x32 triple axle trailer with built in generator and has a floor mounted electric winch mounted inside, as well as an awning and built in aluminum cabinets.

Re: Trailer Prices?
I paid around 3500 for my new 6x12 single a couple of years ago. Haulmark. Looking back no regrets. I found trailers are much cheaper in Florida than where I bought it in NY. But I don't know if the new market is much different down here.

Re: Trailer Prices?
Thanks guys, I checked out ebay, there deffinetly some deals on there. I am gonna checkout my local dealer this week. And keep my eyes on the local papers I'd love to find one of those $1000.00 deals. But I'm just looking for now I am still debating the whole trailer thing. I figure about 50% of my work I could really use a trailer and 50% I really don't need it or wouldn't wanna bring it. So I figure if I could get a good deal I won't feel bad when I am not using it.

Re: Trailer Prices?
Never having to wish you brought a certain tool is the greatest benefit. I found at least half of my jobs I get the while your here can you... Having the trailer with everything makes it a lot easier then telling them I would have to do it another time as I don't have my ______.

Re: Trailer Prices?
In addition, at the cost of trailers vs trucks, If i ever got big enough, having trailers outfitted for each particular job, ie a siding trailer, gutter trailer, roofing trailer, window trailer. May or may not be the same guys doing each thing, but either way just hitch up to whatever one you need, no need to stock the truck or forget something.
Its also a HUGE sales point that YOU SHOULD tell tell tell customers about, "we utilize a dump trailer and tool trailer, we WILL NOT fill your garage with equipment, we WILL NOT leave a dumpster on your driveway every night, YOU CAN have a dinner party while we are siding your house, without your guests feeling like they need to wear a hardhat. |

Re: Trailer Prices?
I just got mine a week ago. V nose, dual axle, with brakes on both axles, 18' long for the Box part. 4' more for the V nose. 101" inches wide outside, deckover, 98 inches inside width, ramp in the back ramp in the front passenger side V. side access door with pull out set. 110 volt wiring system, with 4 sets of cold start fluorescent fixtures, each with two bulbs in them. two interior outlets, one wall switch. plus 12v lighting for when it's hooked to the truck. it has a fuse panel inside for the 12volt LED lighting outside. I still have two breakers that aren't hooked up yet i can add more outlets or whatever as I get it set up. it's actually a snowmobile trailer that i'll use for sleds in the winter sometimes and for jobsite storage the rest of the year i plan on putting rigid foam in the walls and ceiling, then putting 1/2" cdx on the walls and 1/4 luan on the ceiling and painting the ceiling white. not sure about painting the sides yet.
Iwant E track on the walls down low, and also up high, for strapping windows or doors inside if i have to pick them up. most tools will be in cabinets mounted on the walls, or on wood shelves with openings made just for the tool to fit. all the larger stuff like tile saw, chop saw, table saw, generator, air compressors, will all be on the floor and held in place with straps to the E track or D rings in the floor. I plan on taking this winter to have it ready for the spring. I don't want a mobile work shop that I cut inside of on a regular basis because it will be too much walking to the truck. all my jobs are on residential rural jobsites, not in the city. i hope it works out well for me, but I do think there will be jobs where i can't get it in there because there is no room. something i'll keep in mind when i'm bidding a job. anyways. the trailer is ALL aluminum, with stainless steel CAM locks on both ramp doors, all hinges are greasable and are stainless steel. Both ramps have spring assist cables to help lowering them. interior height is 7', which was supposed to be 7'6" but they screwed up at the factory, and because of that, they offered me the two extra flourescent lights inside, along with 5 (one spare) aluminum racing wheels, instead of steel wheels, and they threw in the spring assist on the front ramp too. they didnt' want to make the trailer over again, out in indiana and i didn't want to wait another 4 weeks for one. the cost of this trailer was 10,300.00. and i'll put another grand or two into it between insulation, cabinets, shelves, hooks, tiedowns etc. I will show pics of the work as I start. I should be insulating it this week after work. It's a big change for me, since I worked my whole career so far out of an older ford pickup with an 8' util body on it. which is handy but you still have to load tools into the back and you end up forgetting something. for large jobs where we are there for months and months, the trailer will be great for jobs where we are only there a few days or weeks, it might be a hassle to move all the time. oh well. i made the decision, now i have to live with it. someday i can afford to buy a box truck npr, and then keep the trailer for sleds only. haha wife will love that...... 12 imo is way too short for a trailer unless you really have no tools to store. I originally wanted a 16, but upgraded to the 18 because i could fit 4 sleds in there if i had to take some friends up to NY with me. lol. plus i can put long ladders down the middle into the v nose and get them to the jobsite. I haven't decided yet whether i will put a ladder rack on it or not. it's very high already. the snowmobile trailer works great for jobsites because it's not going to DRAG the ground over rough terrain or in the entrances. so whether you have sleds or not, it's a good choice of trailer. the brand name is RANCE, the renegade model. you might not have heard of them, but check out their website, www.rancealuminum.com they really do make a quality trailer much better than any other ones i have seen out there while doing my research for this trailer. I blew my original budget of around 6k for a steel trailer, but i never have to worry about anything rusting out on this thing ever. and the subfloor is MARINE grade, better than normal pressure treated ply. sorry for the long post. just trying to give as much info as possible. Re: Trailer Prices?
Thanks alot guys! all this info is great! Bonesaw, ya I would deffinetly be getting one with brakes, I am thinking the same way as you I think I am gonna hate hooking and unhooking the thing espessially if I am alone and any time I have towed a trailer I can never manuver the daarn thing
, but I guess that comes with pratice. Patrick, Thats deffinetly a good idea maybe someday I will be that big, then I can just drop the trailer off at the site get the guys working, then fish the rest of the day ![]() ApgarNJ, I can't wait to see some of those pics when you get started on it. As for the length, I would like to look at a longer one, but even the 12' is pushing it. One of the only reasons I deffinetly wanna get a 12' is cause I have a 10' brake so I will be able to bend inside. The problem is storing it at my house its gonna be dificult to manuver into its parking spot. A 16' might be impossible lol. And alot of my jobs are tight too. Thanks, Dave |

Re: Trailer Prices?
a dump trailer for me is in the works for this coming year. I can't swing it right now, but sometime in the spring or summer. I can then get rid of the dumpster at my house which is always in the way and always have to remember to move the car monday mornings before I leave for work. The dump trailer will save me on the smaller jobs where we don't have a roll off dumpster on site, but still have garbage, windows doors etc. i hate cutting up doors to fit in my dumpster at home, and doesn't take much to fill it on a window job

Re: Trailer Prices?
In june I paid $2700 out the door with ladder racks for my 12x6 single axle. If you want new, just ask for your price. If you get it, great. If not than walk or pay full price. Never hurts to ask, some dealers are hurting and are happy make something rather than nothing this time of year.
Hey Patrick, that trailor's cool as hell! It looks as though stupid people could die around it, but that thing looks handy. I was afraid to look for a price though
