Tool Sale!!!!!

Anyone go to those tool sales? The one where they sell a bunch of tools from a semi truck or tent. They are comming to town dec 22 and have alot of ridged tools. They have alot of china junk too. I need a engine lift and they have one for $159 and thats all Im planning on buying. I do have to say the jumper cables they have for $9.99 are great. Other then that I try to stay away from that stuff.

They have a cheese cleaver for only $2.00
Probably with a lead based coating.

Those sales are more for HO's.
Remind me of a bunch of Gypsy wagon trains!

Although I did buy a watch from one sale I went to.The band lasted 2 days, but the watch ran for about seven years with the same battery.

The engine is in a tractor and I need to get the crank out.

It called a cummins tool sale and they have their own tools called cummins. They have a cummins 18V drill for $19.99. I would laugh my azz off if I seen a contractor using his cummins tools.

I've bought some of their stuff. Just remember that you get what you pay for. in other words if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
Good luck!

I've actually gotten some decent tools at those sales, at really good prices. I went to one show, and didn't get burned on any of the tools I bought. I bought a tap and die set there, a couple of months later, I see the same set with a different brand name in a hardware store for 4 times what I spent. My dad on the other hand took a chance on those cummins tools- a friend bought the $10 angle grinder, which died within the first 10 seconds that he was using it. The cordless drill continues to soldier on thanks to duct tape after the body split right in half while I was using it to drive a sheet rock screw. The hammer drill died after one day of use. The grinder disks exploded with such frequency that we just chucked them. I guess it wasn't all bad- the hammer drill lasted long enough that we didn't have to rent one, and was cheaper, and the cordless drill works well enough for my mom when my dad has the good drills at the job.

I was told to stay away from tap and die sets and drill bits. Most of the stuff you can look at and tell if its junk. I just wonder about the brand name tools. They sell ridged, milwakee, makita, dewalt.

I know their drum break tools dont hold up.

my taps and dies work great. It's reasonably easy to check to see how clean the mill work on them is. Of course they could be improperably hardened, or whatever, but it worked for me. I wouldn't buy off brand power tools, if for no other reason than the off brand tools are often uncomfortable to use.

i go to them for the throw away tools.wire brushes, wisk brooms, and a few other things.you have to admit that their tools have gotten better over the years.adding RIDGED TOOLS,a some DEWALT tools, altho most are refurbished.
and they are better than the tool auctions they used to a have years ago.they were auctions only in the sense that they had an auctioneer.prices were set by the number of certain tools on their truck.it didnt matter if three guys were bidding on a drill press and the bid was $200.00,if they had 10 on the truck and they wanted to move them.the auctioneer would knock 50-100 bucks off the winning bid, just to sell them.he would even tell you how many was on the truck.

one other thing,if you do a search on the internet, you can find wholesalers for chinese tools.i was selling on ebay a couple years ago.i could buy 18volt drills in a case for $4.95.4 1/2 grinders for $3.00.my biggest seller was the 38 inch acustic guitar, which i paid $12 for and sold them for over $30.during christmas that year i sold over 200 of them.and the best thing about the whole thing was they drop shipped.meaning i didnt have to inventory any thing or pay for anything until i was paid and placed the order.

Re: Tool Sale!!!!!

those gypsys hit the local elks & k of c halls a few times a year. sometimes I stop in. I have outfitted 3 vans with, recon 18v ryobi sets, since they are primarily used on pvc pipe or form lumber, haven't been to bad. & when one craps out I don't whine. keep in mind , I work in water mud & concrete.
in general the sales are junky stuff, so I don't look for any "workhorses" atb them.....

but I must admit, I was not satisfied with their ninja swords. after taking out just 2 gang members, it cracked!!!! fortunately, I picked up some throwing stars for back up!!!!!!

Re: Tool Sale!!!!!

Cummins Tools...

A great place for a painter to buy a hammer!
Or to buy loaner tools.

You MAY get what you pay for...

Lately, their advertised prices are higher than local discount autopart stores for similar items.

When you use their $1 hammers chunks fly off and hit you in the face.

So you need to buy the 10 for $1 sefty goggles. Yes sefty, not safty.

They raised the price this year so you guys will have to pay $2 for your hammers.

Re: Tool Sale!!!!!

Wow, I thought those guys only came around here. I work with a guy who buys all his tools there, its really quite sad to see what he shows up with the next day. Keep your junk Cummins drill, I'll take my 18V XRP Dewalt I bought at a real tool store. It never pays to buy sub-par tools when you use them to make a living. Save that crap for the HOs, I'll pay a little more for tools I'm proud to be seen holding.
