Re: TBA Meeting (Tool Buyers Anonymous)

Things that dont count:
Saw blades
Pencils
Tape mesures (come on you CANNOT work if you break your tape)
Screwdrives
Razor blades
Basically most things under $15 otherwise I would be here everyday.

Agreed. I think we could actually expand the list above to even over $15 and to include basic supplies. Tape, roller sleeves, brushes, nails, screws, bolts, wire, joist hangers, building materials etc., etc.

Roberts right, I think we'd all be in this thread endlessly if we included our supplies and materials.

It has become a pretty fun and popular thread though!

Robert, What if the saw blade was over $15.00, then does it count ???

Or no, because it is still only a saw blade ??

Yeah, I agree! The last time I used a $15 blade it was to make a clock.
Love my Forrest's.

Re: TBA Meeting (Tool Buyers Anonymous)

Just got a PLS1 laser measurer a week ago. http://www.nicetoys.com/PLS1.html It does work nice, has a 5 out of 5 star rating at AMAZON where I got it. The first time I really noticed it's convience was when I needed to get the distance to a sewer line in a tight, muddy crawl space. I just put the laser dot on the pipe from the access hole hit the button and bingo 47' 5-5/16" No mud, no crawling. See, I needed it!

Goodmornig all, or afternoon depending where ya are.
I'm hopin someone can tell about this new milwaukee 28 volt system. Is it as good as it sounds. For example "double the run time, up to double the power". And is that compared to their own 18 volt (probably) or say DeWalts

My name is Tom and I am a toolaholic. I just bought a brand new brad nailer, and I don't even own a compressor (of course, now that I have the nailer, I need a compressor....).

Hi all. I'm here because I have a problem. New tools always seem to find there way into my cart and I can't put them back. At least my problem can be of some assistance though. Hurley I've got the 28 volt milwaukee set and its great. I had to have it, really I did.

One of best sets of tools that I've purchased. I took the dewalt saw and drill out of the truck because of this set!! Its that good. The circular saw is a real work horse. I've ripped some treated 2x with it and you just can not bog it down. The batteries have a meter on the back so you know how much charge is left. The sawzall is 2 speeds and is very well balanced and easy to use. Blade changes are effortless and I've never had a problem with with them popping out. The drill is better than some corderd drills I've used. It fits the hand well and is not as heavy as you would think for a 28 volt. Hammer drill function works great. I would suggest getting a third battery though. I bought the kit and got 2 with it. I always find myself using at least 2 tools so it would be nice to have that 3rd battery on the charger ready to go. I would highly reccomend this set though.

Yesterday I was at a home improvement store and a dewalt jig saw jumped into my cart. I had to buy it. I admit I did good though. I went in with the intention to buy the cordless dewalt jig saw but went with the electric one instead. I just couldn't put that extra 100 dollars in the cordless one.

About a month ago a coworker was showing me the dewalt cordless nailgun. Blew the old passload impulse out of the water. Had to have one after playing with it. I haven't regreted that either it is a great gun.

I think I'm showing improvenmet on my condition though. Friday on the way to a job we stopped at harbor freight. I managed to get out of there with just a pair of knee pads. They had a 1" impact gun in there for 99 bucks. Now I don't really have a use for a 1" impact but it was sure calling to me though.

Well hopefully this will be a better week and I can refrain from buying any tools.

I'm sure glad this site is here. That Festool system is starting to look like it's worth buying. I got short subby arms and for me to try a carry a sheet of 5' x 5' baltic birch ....

Does it count if one really needs the tool?

We can all mind screw ourselves into think we NEED the tool. So no it does not count if you think you need it. Be strong talk to your sponser (wife, girlfriend) and see what they have to say about it
