Tahoe Industries Sale! Sale! Sale??

we just had a lady come by the office trying to unload some "extra" stuff made by tahoe industries. she had a diesel generator, gas generator, air compressor, pressure washer, and trash pump. diesel was a yanmar and gas were honda. the generators, pressure washer, air compressor, and pump were of unknown make.

she wanted $6500 for all of it saying her boss said just get rid of it.

we didn't buy--although it was hard to pass up all those honda engines.

anyone ever fallen for this or am i being too sceptically?

Re: Tahoe Industries Sale! Sale! Sale??

I had the same thing happen before. Someone shows up with "brand new" generators from a show somewhere. Very low hours because "they were only started and run for a few minutes to show how quiet they are" and they want a low price. Sometimes they are a known brand, sometimes not. I've seen generators, pressure washers, compressors and some other equipment. They claim they have to sell them so they don't have to haul them back. The last time, I asked what "show" they were coming from. I checked, there was no show by that name going on anywhere in the state. If something seems to good to be true, it probably is.

They wernt yellow were they? There seems to be a bunch of these yellow compressors, generators and pressure washers floating about in our area. They are being sold at almost every pawn shop, cash converters, farm and even out the front of peoples houses. They are all sealed in a thick shrink wrap so that you can't really see the make or brand and they seems to have popped up from no where.

Re: Tahoe Industries Sale! Sale! Sale??

I have actually bought one of those deals in the past, maybe four years ago! and the best part was I had the warrenty cards and all for them. I told the person selling them that I would buy them if they brought them to my house that evening, they did greatfully, and I had one of my buddies(police office) come over, we checked it all out and everything was truely legit, called the company that the people said they worked for in calagary, and confirmed that they were for sale,we checked all the serial numbers and found none stolen, verified there tax number and was valid. so I bought it all, 8500. worth of stuff, 3 generators,2 water pumps,2 pressure washers,a compressor and a bunch of hose and acc. About a year later, had a problem with one of the generators, called the company eagle in Calgary and they sent me the parts free of charge! I think I got a great deal.

Re: Tahoe Industries Sale! Sale! Sale??

i guess there are a few votes for their quality, but what about the sales pitch. isn't that the lamest sales pitch ever. the lady told me that these were all extra and priced to just get rid of. in the next sentence she said they had a few left in the warehouse and that another order was coming in. that sales pitch just had sleaze ball written all over it.

they must have training in it. A friend of mine is a cop and saw that they had a load of them in a trailer. took all the info down in case i need it in the future. they came up from Chattanooga, TN to unload them.

Re: Tahoe Industries Sale! Sale! Sale??

There's a company driving around this area selling under the name GIANT industrial. Trucks are stocked with gas compressor, gas pressure washer, diesel generator, parts cleaner, 5 tonne press and sometimes a welder.

Lots of farmers bought the package for the presses and welders and tried to unload the unwanted pieces at auction. It wasn't rare to see 5 or 6 pressure washers at the same auction. I haven't seen them driving around lately though. They're equipment was black with yellow stickers.
