Table Saw Problem

I have a portable rigid table saw that you've probably seen on at Home Depot. Well the fence isn't that great, although I can get it square by pulling back on the fence before locking down. I have a problem of no matter what I do, the wood always drifts off the fence through the cut. The fence is square to the blade. I wish I could make it stick to the fence somehow? Thanks for any info

Re: Table Saw Problem

Well this sounds like a technique problem, may I suggest using a feather board?

agreed technique. Unless the blade is crooked causing the wood to shoot out not straight

Re: Table Saw Problem

If you are talking about the one that includes a stand I have the same one. Look at the fence where you lock it down, you can move a couple of screws to square it up. I had the same drifting issue until I spent the time making mine perfectly square.

If you come up with a clever way of attaching a feathering board to your saw's square post a picture.

Re: Table Saw Problem

I bet the real problem is that it is orange. The only portable table saw to own is the bosch with the gravity rise stand.

Re: Table Saw Problem

The only portable saw on the market is the Dewalt 744X with the rack and pinion fence. Gravity rise is nice, but I'd rather have a fence that is always square with the blade.

Never had nor seen a problem with the Bosch's. But most people I know including myself treat their tools better than their children. Yellow is for boat anchors.

Re: Table Saw Problem

Sounds like the fence isn't tight enough. There is an adjustment nut at the back of the fence. See page 38 of the owners manual. That will tighten it up so that it won't move once it's set. It's either that or you're not keeping the work against the fence. Use a feather board if you have to. Page 23 of the owner's manual.

Re: Table Saw Problem

Try the dewalt flip over bit heavy and restricted on the mitre, but a good all round site saw.

Re: Table Saw Problem

If the fence is secure, - - and it's parallel to the blade, - - the problem you're having is 'flex' in the (arbor) shaft.

As you're pushing the wood, and putting pressure on the shaft, it's flexing away from you and going out of parallel from the fence.

You need a better table saw.

So much for beating around the bush. I second that.

Re: Table Saw Problem

HI Bukemdando some times these table have a habit of twisting when you push the stock through the ,saw just ease back and see if the table moves then you know the legs are loose or just allow for it.
