Stiff Makita LS1214

I have Makitas 12" compound mitre saw, the LS1214. The pull down action seems to have got quite stiff over the last 6 months. I have given it a good clean up and blasted it with air but that hasn't helped.

Does anyone know what might be causing the problem or how to free it up? Thanks.
