I go to the Hardware store and buy a box of 2" stove bolts to use as shear pins.
A box of 100 bolts and nuts is the same price as 5 shear pins. Use a hacksaw to cut a slice in them. If they break to easily, make a smaller cut next time. Eventually, you'll figure out how deep to make the cut. For deep, fresh snow, I don't make any cut. Only use the cut ones when the grader has left big lumps. 14 HP 29" machine. |

I live on the side of a mountain. If I was a flatlander, I'd just tamp it down and keep going. That doesn't work too well long term with 30° slopes.
