Skid steer hydraulic problem

It's a Case 1537, it started with a sometimes slow and erratic operation of the bucket, it jerked slightly when being raised. Now it's worse, won't lift all the way up and is very slow to respond to movements of the controls. The filter looks clean but can't really tell. Should I just get a filter and see what happens or is the pump more likely the culprit? It's an old machine so I hope I can still get parts. Thanks for any replies.

I would first change the filter as you suggested.

I don't know about your model, but my old Case Uniloader has two hydraulic filters: the main one in the back and another one under the seat on the left side of the battery. If you also have two, the one under the seat would be the one I changed first to see if the problem gets better.

Thanks, my battery is on the floor of the machine but it may have been moved. I'll check under the seat.
