Rigid Impact Driver died

Working on a deck today the thing starts shaking even more so than usual and the housing gets to hot to touch. It still drive screws but slow real slow. anyone else have problems with these? I am wondering if I got a factory defect or this is a common problem. I have the 5 piece combo from ridgid and am thinking about selling it on ebay and buying the makita lithium ion set.

Send it in for repair. Get on thier website and find the nearest service center take or mail it to them with a copy of your receipt and they will fix it and send it back for free (3 years from the date of purchase) If you registered the tool then you get a lifetime service agreement.

We bought tons of the rigid tools a few years ago because of the warranty, only had one drill go yet. The best feature of their corded tools are the little pictures of the tool on the plug.

I love the little pictures... even though it is not on my prill press, table saw, miter saw, planer I wish they would put them on all the corded tools.

WE install a lot of interior doors, and for some reason I never use my 5 or 6 outlet strip. We try to juggle five tools into a 3 prong. The little pictures help alot.....some day I will use the multi outlet.

Got it back and used it on a small deck. Was fine until it started to get hot. Once hot it lost power and speed. Still worked but not as well. The metal nose piece was hot enough to make some drops of water sizzle.

I did buy the makita 18v lithium ion. What a great tool. Did the frame and stairs of a deck on one battery. That included 20 lags 1/4 x 4".
