Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

This morning I decided that I needed a new table saw with a stand. Hd sells several HO table saws that have crappy fences and they all seem to be made of cheap plastic. I ended up buying a Ridgid table saw that included a base with wheels. I was wondering if anyone has any positive or negative feedback on the tool.

My notes so far;

The fence is dead on, no tapping needed!

The blade that comes on the saw is a POS, I had to plane all of the wood that I cut.

Heavy! 120lbs, no wonder it comes with wheels.

Has a nice place that you can wrap up the cord.

I agree, the blade is not good, I like the fence, and I like the left tilt...the only way to go for a job site saw, and I haven't found anything except power, that it lacks for. However, I doubt I would be happy with any job site saw on the power end, since you are limited by 15 amps. I good blade may make all the difference in the world.

What type of blade do you use on yours? I need something to rip trim wood and Azek----without melting to the blade.

Re: Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

I don't have one of the new ones, I have the older Ridgid saw, the gray one when they first came out, probably 5 or 6 years ago. It is a workhorse, keeps going and going, and very accurate. It is easy to keep aligned, and never had any problems with it. My only complaint is the weight, but then when your ripping a sheet of 3/4" MDF the weight keeps it from moving.

I bought one a few months back and have been very happy with it so far! Only problem so far is the saw dust port keeps plugging with heavy use, been thinking about breaking out the little grills inside of the tube to unrestrict it. Everything was dead on out of the box and is very handy to fold up against the wall when not in use. I couldn't decide between it and the bosch saw but found it on sale for $375 and couldn't resist! No regrets so far.

Re: Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

I think Ive been running mine for about 3-4 years now and have had no problems with power or anything else. Regular blade changes and not forcing material faster than the saw can accommodate, works beautifully. Great Buy.

I also recently picked up the new dewalt job site table saw, the one with the roll cage. Great little machine for smaller jobs and occasional HD use.

I edited your purchase price to reflect a higher price that what I paid HD got me for $449.

Re: Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

I own the Ridgid contractors type saw, not the easy to move around from job to job jobsite saw. however it does have the mobile base (258 lbs.), I love it. However, I chose the Bosch when I purchased a jobsite saw. I am well pleased with it, especially the weight and gravity lift stand. I'm sure the Ridgid jobsite saw will perform well. Does the Ridgid have a metal casing? The Bosch and Makita all have a plastic casing with aluminum top. The fence on the Bosch is right on and you can purchase a left hand extension and an outfeed extension for it.

Re: Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

I'm looking for a portable table saw that has a nice fence. That makes or breaks a saw imo. I'm a flooring guy so i'm in and out of sites, need something portable. Is Ridgid the way to go? I've heard alot of people talk about the dewalt lightweight one but never heard from anyone who has used it much....

Re: Ridgid Portable Table Saw--feedback

I just picked up the dewalt with the cage its real smooth nice and light
very acurate with the fence. I like it alot but I need a stand killing my knees.

im going to pick up the stand this coming week im hoping its a quick set up! total weight of the saw is 45 lbs compared to like 80bls or more
so not a pain in the ass to get in my pick up

havent seen the stand but im hoping its easy set up and light!!!

Note, read the instructions on how to use the stand or it can catch your fingers! I was folding down the stand to put it in my trailer last week and the beast got the best of me. I saw my knuckle bone for the first time.

I'm a floor guy too....I absolutely love my Dewalt, best fence on the market for a jobsite saw imo. I have the older larger model not the new one with the roll cage. I haven't used the Rigid but I will say that everything of theirs that I have used has been good stuff, especially for the money.
