Redneck Jumper Cables

Back in 2003 I was in a bind to get my truck started after playing the radio all day.

This method works...but the banding gets VERY hot.

My accomplice (in the photo) is the GC/HO/Builder/Framer/best friend. We had fun, just the two of us, building his home.

While the pictures of banding and vice grips was a great decoy to make the eye's wander, i was able to see the actual problem here-DODGE

I'd have just swapped batteries, but whatever works.

Ain't nothing wrong with Dodge (I hope, just bought one).

Did you touch bumpers to get ground? I tried to do that once many years ago when all I had was a 6 foot piece of romex.. no it didn't work.

Re: Redneck Jumper Cables

Very similar to the emergency cigarette lighter. That is when the fuse blows for your cig lighter you:

1-unwind the windings in the lighter
2-mash end of cigarette into middle of winding
3-attach one end of winding to po and one to neg terminal

The end result is the banding will burn out but you will be able to light ONE smoke of it as it gets cherry red. I'm assuming the way you guys did it you could light a cig of that also.

I have known that to work many years ago when cars had more metal in them, as in metal bumpers fastened to metal. Bumpers together and bumper jack and tire iron to make the hot/pos connection.

After I arced the front of my bush guard I realized you need as many as it takes...for us we needed two ripped pieces.

You ever notice how powerful 12VDC really is...holy crap it bites hot sweaty skin.

I'll never forget a guy I know was "swapping" batteries late one night or early one morning and shorted a ring on his finger. Made for a perfect round section of burned skin! Damn, it looked painful. LOL! I think it may have had something to do with whose batteries were being swapped.
Come to think of it, there was no swapping involved. He was removing one. Heheh, karma can bite!
