I've burned out 3 motors on the exact model. Either get another motor or a new SCMS. Check your belt also, the teeth could be stripped and cause that noise.

it cost me 50 couple bucks including labor to replace the arbor bearing a few months back on one of my saws, well worth it

sounds like the same thing your describing

i too thought it was the belt, but after inspecting the belt it looked like new,by all means its worth repair as long as it still cuts true

I still wouldn't get a dewalt.

The rain was a sign from the tool gods.

I have to say I do enjoy a DW706 I have been using. It is a DeWalt 12" CMS that one of the companys I sub in for uses. It has a MUCH better vertical capacity then my Bosch 12" slider and even the Bosch 12" CMS. The saw runs true, and pretty smooth....its not an outstanding saw that puts me in "awe" if you will but it does its job none the less....and it looks like it has not seen a pretty life either. However, I will use my Bosch where ever I can....but when it comes to vert cutting capacity the DW706 does something like 6 5/8 or something stupid....or at least that is what I measured IIRC.

I've had a CMS 12" without the belt for 12 years and no trouble. And it sits on a dewalt track rack type stand which I love.

i have no problem with Dewalt miter boxs,or the compressor i have,i do have a big problem with the drills, compressor is a bit heavier than my Emglo but it doesnt trip breakers like the Emglo either

i will say if you run a Bosch miter box,and then a Dewalt, then you will see what the guys are saying about Dewalt
