Question Radial Arm Saw (The new guy)

Hey guys, I've been reading this forum for a couple years now but this is my first post. I'm a contractor/new home builder in Western NY. I also have a wood shop and build custom cabinets. Anyway I have a Ridgid Radial arm saw that has a bad motor . I can't get a replacement motor from Ridgid because it is now discontinued. Does anybody know where I might be able to find another motor? Emerson electric made the motors for this one and Craftsman also. I also have a sliding miter saw, so "buy a real saw" is not the answer I'm looking for The Ridgid was strictly a quick crosscut and dado machine for wider stock that won't fit in the miter saw.

Thanks, Aaron

Been reading for your years & your first post isn't in the intro area? No location in your profile? WTH???

Welcome to CT anyways - I didn't know Ridgid actually made those & you don't have the lifetime warranty?

Here is a place to order all the parts you might need

Thanks for the link but as I already said Ridgid no longer has a replacement motor. They do have a lifetime warranty and I have already been compensated
from them for the lack of a motor. Before I set it to the curb I just figured I'd give it shot to find a motor even if it is used.

Send a message via AIM to boman47k
Have you tried to find someone locally that can rewind/rebuild it?

http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-b...&brands=ridgid $405.83 which shows a replacment part# 828484 which is also used on the Makita LS1013 Miter Saw? (per another site)

Edit: I have to agree with boman - that would be my first choice or see what it can be swapped with

I no longer have the old motor cause I had to send it back to Ridgid for the warranty
They sent me a new (recon) sliding miter saw as a replacement cause they didn't have a motor Thanks SLS, not sure if I want to spend $405 on this saw but I'm glad it will work. The motor that was in the arm saw was a dual arbor so I'm not sure how it would have worked in the Makita

If the motor is going to be $405, I'd look to replace it- I just found a Rigid RAS that sold on ebay for $200, and you would have your old saw for parts. You may also be able to find an old Dewalt, Black and decker, Delta, or Craftsman from back before many of those names turned to junk, that is bigger and more powerful than what you have now.
