Radial arm Saw

My dad is trying to give me his old radial arm saw. Its a craftsman probably from the 70's but its missing its blade guard so I would have to rig something up. Just wondering if you guys thought it was worth picking up. Its got an oddball 9inch blade which sucks because i have a 10'' table saw and a 12'' chop saw.

What do you have in mind to use it for? They went out the day CSMS's came in. If you have a large number of identical length cuts to make, like in a factory situation, it might make sense, but to take space in a workshop where you already have a better tool doesn't. JMO.

They're also particularly good at removing thumbs.

Scrap it unless you plan to cut up firewood with it. Not worth putting any money into, even if parts are still available.

Ifs its a true 10 inch saw you can get a whole new blade guard and deck. google radial arm saw recall. They ship it to you for free. If it works keep it, I use mine from time to time.

Good choice. I had one of those thiings back in the day, and they were so underpowered (Sears was the pioneer in setting the bar for absuredly overstated power ratings) and inaccurate that you could not do anthing worthwhile with it, even when it was new.
