Purchase equipment online?

Do you guys buy tools and equipment online? (Not ebay, I don’t want to start that discussion) But without promoting sites like ******direct.com, do you buy equipment from sites like that? Do you buy equipment site-un-seen? I’m just concerned if I don’t like what I buy, it’ll be a pain in the arss to return it. I guess I’m the kind of person that if I’m going to drop a grand on piece of equipment, I want to kick the tires and smell it first.

I've purchased almost all of my equipment from C.P.O. or Ebay. Never got a stinker yet. Its nice because you can research the model # and get all types of reviews on that exact model from guys who have used it extensively. I say go for it.

Same here i buy 80% of my tools online, and never got burned yet! Ebay is not to bad if your buying used then make sure you ask the seller questions and chk his ratings out!

i,ll give you an example i just bought a festool ts75 almost brand new w/$150 in accesories for well under $475 including shipping. (New would of been $775-800)

Bought a slightly used hitachi sds 1 9/16 hammer, from a pawn shop in vegas for $175 in a case with extra bits!(New about $600)

i like ebay, if you know what you like and need theres always a deal waiting for you!

Thanks for the replies! I found another thread on this site with a similar discussion and I didn't realize how many people purchase tools online. I just assumed everyone purchased their stuff at a bigbox or local shops.

i check the pawn shops too, more often than not though you can get new for $30-$50 bucks more so its no deal but occasionally you find a deal,i usuall stop in to look for old firearms and skim the tools before leaving

Sometimes the local shop can help you out with pricing on tools. If you have a local shop nearby I would give them a chance. It's also nice to have a local shop to help you.

the problem i have with tools and pawn shops is when you see brand spanking new tools that still have the wire ties on the cords, you know its a good 90% chance its stolen, which leads me to wonder how many of the used tools were lifted from a fella that needed it to put food on his table
