Problem With Hitachi Air Compressor

I have a 2 hp Hitachi EC11 air compressor and it runs fine, but when the compressor shuts when it get to 120 psi it starts to release all the air, seam like a valve is stuck open or something, anyone ever have this happen or know how to fix it. Thanks for the help.

Nick

Re: Problem With Hitachi Air Compressor

Have you checked to make sure you have not exceeded the pressure pop off valve? There should be a small brass pop off valve that has a ring in it that looks like a key ring. If you have pumped up too much pressure or it is weak it will pop off and release all the presure. Also there is a pressure release valve that is in the controll box that when the compressor quits pumping it releases the air on the piston so that when the pump starts again it is not starting against pressure. See if you can find these two things and check them.

Re: Problem With Hitachi Air Compressor

yeah it has something to do with that valve, it use to release a little presure when the compressor shut off but now it release all the pressure in the tank. is there a valve that is stuck or be replaced.

Re: Problem With Hitachi Air Compressor

There is probably a little peice of trash in it causing it not to shut. You should be able to take it off and clean it or replace it if it is faulty.
