Paslode Problem

I bought a F350-S (ebay), it looked in pretty good shape. It had a major air leak and the firing pin wouldn't retract all the way to catch the next nail. I put a new parts replacement kit in it only to find I still have the same problem. And, twice I've taken it all apart and double checked everything since then. Any ideas?

I had one a while ago and had lots of problems with it. Not the same ones as yours, but issues nonetheless.

Are you still leaking air? Low air pressure can cause the pin to not reset.

But, your driver may be bent minutely. If it is, replace. A little bend will really cause problems.

A buddy of mine picked up a returned one at Lowes, $150.
Previous owner crossed the threads on the 1/4 NPT air fitting, he found metal filings, removed them and all is good.

The firing pin looks pretty straight. I figured out that the big air leak after I changed all the o-rings came from the big valve in the cap. One of the o-rings was pinched when I was putting it all back together the first time. Now there is no air leaks, the firing pin is still acting a little weird, it was shooting good for a while today and then it looked like it was almost skipping over the nail. I might try putting the beveled side up and see how that does. Thanks for all the help!

when you load two clips of nails make sure the second clip is not riding under the last nail head of the first clip. The paslode magazine is big and sloppy and this happens alot.

For all the people that find this thread in the future, here is how the problem was solved. It turns out that by replacing the o-rings everything in theory should have worked fine. I asked around about the air pressure and 1/4" compared to a 3/8" fitting on the gun. Some people said it should have still worked fine seeming as it was still acting powerful. It turns out that once we got a warm spell for a week the gun started working 100%. My guess is that what had happened was that I had some ice in my air hoses so the firing pin would retract 95% of the way. This left the pin about 1/8" out, just enough to rest on the head of the nail making it appear to act like it was "skipping" over the nail. With the thawed out air lines the gun is working great with the 1/4" fitting. This weekend it was below freezing again and I did a small project in the garage with the gun. It worked great, a bit sluggish with the condensed air though. I think it fired about 19 out of 20 nails consistently. Not enough to bother me.
