Paslode Cordless Will Not Fire

I purchased a used Paslode cordless on ebay, I tried it, and it fired 2 nails, but it was so dirty I decided to clean it (following the cleaning directions exactly) it did not look like it had ever been cleaned, and used a lot of degreaser. I put it back together, with a charged battery (green light flashing), and a new gas cannister, and tried to drive a nail, I pull the trigger, and eventually the fan comes on, but it does not fire. Does anyone have any experience such as this and know what the trouble may be? Would appreciate a little help.

I would check the spark wire make sure its a good connection.
After all the degreaser, make sure you use some Paslode oil on the clyinder.I know you said you are using a new fuel cell, but to be certain its getting in you can usually smell it.

Also check the two head adjustment screws on the nose of the gun, they often allow the tip to slide up and the gun won't fire. You can push it down on the edge of a board to see if this will fix it. Push down, then pull trigger too, in that order.

Make sure that you have the "Y" shaped keeper plate on correctly. It's located in front of the slot where the drive pin exits the tip of the gun.
It's held on with two cap screws. It will go on upside down and not allow the slide to fully engage the contacts in the top that allow the gun to fire but will allow the fan to operate.

How do I know all this?

Experience.

Also check to be sure the driver blade is reset fully, the gun won't fire if it is not. make sure the fuel cell is aligned properly.

Check the date on the fuel cell as well. If its way past the exp date that could be it too. Also check to see that the battery is fully engaged in the sleeve. One of mine, the batteries fit loosely in the sleeve and often lose contact.

Stupid as it sounds, is the battery making full contact. We've got three of these guns and a couple years ago i had to spring for all new batteries, the contacts on the battery themselves were wearing down and i'd have to bend the tangs down inside the battery holder, then press the battery down and jamb a shim in to hold it in place...then when doing overhead nailing they'd work loose new batteries-fixed.

They still are like computers, great when they work, but make life hell when they dont..high maintenance for sure, but they have their place.

i'm gonna have to save and print this. i love the paslode guns but notice in the cold, i can't get them to fire to save my life, letting them warm up mitigates the problem but still.

when i was a paslode noob i always forgot to seat the gas cannister correctly as well. make sure it makes a good connection so you get a little hiss when you plug it in, and also make sure you "click" the yellow top of the cannister to crack open the valve.

Make sure the fuel is not expired. I have 3 paslodes. 2 cordless finishers and 1 framer. I had the same problem with 2 of them. I called paslode and they fixed them with absolutely no charge. They emailed me a prepaid shipping label. Paslode has excellent service. I never had a problem again. They work 100% in cold or under any type of conditions.

Paslode does not fire 16guage finisher

From day one (2007) my Paslode would intermittently not fire. I though it was new, but it could have been returned. I thought it was just how this technology worked. I ended up using this just for very small clean jobs because the problem I had with it. I found that it worked in some positions but not all the time in other. It didn't work sideways (think gangster pointing a gun) or vertical for baseboards, but work angled for quarter round, flat on flooring and vertical for crown. I'd keep a 4x4 scrap, fire once, then I'd get about 4 working shots for the base moulding, it got worse and stopped firing all together. I tried to borrow a fuel cell to test if all 3 of my new but now expired ones were bad, but after talking to the repair guy, he said it wasn't the fuel, but there is a pin inside that can get bent. Being almost brand new after 2 years, he said it was probably dropped and has seen it many times. $50 for cleaning and repairs, it was better then new and now I can work on bring down the average cost of a nail below $.50 a nail. I don't know which pin it, or if it was actually the keeper plate. I didn't need the cleaning but since it was apart, I had him do it. Don't forget to mark your battery and whatever else you leave at the shop. My two years of frustration with this gun has finally come to an end.

Did you take the O ring off of the motor when you cleaned it? This may be something for you to take a look at. If the O ring is torn, it wont allow the proper air fuel mixture and will not allow the gun to fire.

Also try "flattening" the battery by running it completely down and recharging, repeat 2-3 times. Had same trouble and was sold new batteries, which cured the problem for awhile, but alas, same thing-- shoots 4 nails and then quits. The owners manual describes this solution in detail.
