Paslode Cordless Oiling

Does anyone here ever put a few drops of oil in where the fuel cell valve inserts into the gun?

One guy I know swears by this, but his gun seems to misfire a lot more than mine. I tried this when I first got the gun and after the first cleaning, it seemed to be clogged up with burnt oil deposits. So I quit doing it, and after the second cleaning it seemed a lot less clogged up..seems to be working better too.

Just wondering what your opinions are on this, and if any of you do it.

Never heard of that. Seems like it would contaminate the gas, and put burnt carbon deposits in places where they otherwise wouldn't be. Sorta like putting a tablespoon of motor oil in the gas tank of your truck every time you fill up. Crazy.

I am not 100% sure of this but I think the fuel cells have a bit of lube in them already

That sounds crazy to me. However, you are supposed to oil the gun from the back side of the gun. Maybe your buddy is a little confused. You should open the back of it where the gas goes but you should depress the tip against something and oil the two rods on either side of the gas cylinder.

We get by with just regular cleaning. If I read it in the manual I would, otherwise no.

Good Luck

Sounds to me like he is trying to apply the same logic used to lube air tools....I guess it would work except for the fact that it will leave alot of oil in that TINY fuel port....and it could start to cause a carbon build up and block the fuel...

The Paslode cordless nailers come pre-lubricated from the factory. The fuel cells contain a small amount of oil and it is not necessary to oil the tool during daily use. The only time that it is necessary to oil your tool is after it has been cleaned. Keep in mind the oil used in a pneumatic tool is not the same as the oil used in the cordless tools.

Actually you are supposed to put a drop or two in there. Read your manual.
But it is not just tool oil, Paslode says the impulse oils is different, has some additives specificly for the impulse tools.

Q#15 in the FAQ is something totally off subject... maybe you were looking at a differant nailer model or a Pneumatic. I seen this under the 30* Cordless framing nailer.

Do I need to oil my cordless nailer?

Your cordless nailer comes pre-lubricated from the factory. In fact it is not uncommon to see a small amount of oil that may of seeped out into the case. Because the fuel contains a small amount of oil, it is not necessary to oil the tool during normal use. The only time the tool should be oiled is after it has been cleaned.
