So, you looked at his crotch before looking at the holster?
Maybe your definition of tool is different than mine.

Saw holster first , looks ridiculous! But I'm sure the guy behind it will make a million, maybe it's the guy I saw today laughing on his way into the bank.

Initially, I would say it depends on how well the hammer "stays" in it.
Then, after looking at it further, I think it just looks to big and bulky. A traditional holder only has the handle of the hammer hanging down that low, but at least the hammer handle isn't that bulky.
I vote "NO"!

I would never use this thing, my hammer holster is in the back, not the side.
BTW, I don't know why, but I still laugh at the Carpenters who wear
the four pouch, all in one, nail bags, with the tape measure up in front and center.
Don't get me wrong, I had one of those bags the first couple months starting
off, and they were hell when it was time to bend and do work.

I can't see it taking off, due to it being in the wrong place...can you imagine stepping between studded walls and that thing clipping you? But then again, we all remember when cordless drill holsters first cam out and my guys all have them...
I carry my hammer (when I carry one) in the back of the tool belt or the side look on my jeans.

The only benefit I could see is if it is soft and would protect delicate finished surfaces from a hammer.
And of course it would give you an advantage over your opponents in all the hammer quick draw contests that go on all the time at job sites.

Put that thing into a showdown against a simple loop and the owner would be shot before he could get his weapon halfway out. Different hammer heads have slightly different shapes dont they? Wonder if that's accounted for? I'm trying to think of the need for the change. Maybe guys who work upside down? Kick their heels too high and kick the hammer out da holster? If it were felted or something I guess it would be good for the clutzes that bump into expensive woodwork, or china. looks like more weight and bulkiness to me. Does in come in a paisely, or chartreusse?

I would think it would be real handy for those framers that carry their hammer in their pouch, handle up. I wouldn't have one but being a new gadget it will probably sell to homeowners.

Maybe the guy who thought this up was the one who did that hammer that was on TV...I think it was the one that placed a nail, and then you just tapped the hammer, then drove it in? An old lady we did some work for had one...it was a hoot. I had forgot that gimmick...kinda like the wrench you can buy and get rid of all your tools...uh huh.
