New Tablesaw

I presently have a Craftsman cheapo 10";2hp tablesaw that I got a couple of years ago. I had to get it in a pinch....I just needed an inexpensive one. It has worked okay, but it is taking up so much room in the trailer that I have. I have already had to take the power switch apart to clean it out because it was not starting about a year ago. I am looking for one that will fold up and just take less space. I am looking for a decent contractor grade unit........any suggestions.........and pro's and con's about yours? Thanks for any and all responses.

Russ

Re: New Tablesaw

Just bought the Bosch 4000-09 10" Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Wheeled Stand, very, very pleased with it and the fold up base is the ticket. I'll only use my big Ridgid for larger projects now.

Re: New Tablesaw

i've used the bosch. thought that was a great saw but, the fence seemed to get some play after a year or so. nothing too crazy though. i now have the rigid and like it a lot. a guy i know bought a hitachi and it took a crap after two jobs. i used a dewalt before too, and that seemed pretty nice also.

Re: New Tablesaw

When I bought the Bosch, I was aimed at the Ridgid, I have a Ridgid contractors saw, belt drive, cast iron, etc. When I started checking them out I found that the Bosch had a 4 horse motor, pneumatic tires, pretty light unit, I went with it. My Ridgid saw, In my opinion is unbeatable for the money, just heavy @ 256 lbs and time consuming to set up/brakedown. I do hope the fence last on the Bosch.

I have the ridgid 10" portable table saw as well. I love it a lot. I dont use it all the time but when I use it, it is for 2 hours straight and it does not complain at all.

Re: New Tablesaw

Years(90s) ago I had a Makita (8")and man that thing could not be killed...!!!! It was surely the best contractor saw I ever used. It was not on a stand and it looked like it. There were chunks of plastic broken out of it from various abuses.... We had a small crew and it got beat. We ripped lots of pressure treated lumber with it and never once did the motor cry out(the blades just smoked). It just got to a point where the base was so broken up that it would tip when using it... The only thing about that saw was that the table surface was a little small. I can say that the Makita circular saws are really good too.

Re: New Tablesaw

I have the Rigid on the fold down stand. Great for most situations but tends to complain a little when ripping hardwoods (Oak and Maple). Trust me, it's set up properly and have a very good blade in it (it just doesn't seem to have the power required)...
