New DeWALT DW745 Issue

I just bought a DeWALT DW745 yesterday and was putting it through the paces when the knob that raises and lowers the blade started vibrating. It vibrates to the point that its spinning and raising and lowering the blade on its own. If you jam the bevel lock up tight it stops it most times (not all the time). But it doesnt really make sense to me that using the bevel lock is how it was designed to lock. Why would you have to chance moving your bevel by unlocking it ever time you wanted to move the blade up and down. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what your resolution was. Thx so much for your time guys.

Patrick

I've had mine since day one. Literally. I wrote the review for JLC magazine on the 745 and never had the issue you are describing. It could be that you need to give it a quick once over with a screwdriver to tighten up a some bolts that may have loosened in transit. Or you could've gotten a bad one.

I will take a look at mine to see if I see a quick fix for you.

Never had any problems with mine, but that is really strange. Sounds like a serious vibration problem. Did you try removing and reseating the blade, or changing the blade(perhaps it is a warped blank). If this does not help, I would definately get it to service center with suspicion of bent arbor on mator or bad bearings/bushings in motor.

Re: New DeWALT DW745 Issue

Mine runs very smooth. I just ripped about a mile (well, it seemed like a mile) of cedar 2X material that made enough sawdust to fill half a garbage can and I had no issues with the blade moving or shifting. This was especially noticable since I was running bevels most of the time.

I think you got a lemon. I'd bring it back pronto and get a new one.
