New Chalk Box

In the "way back" time, I used to buy the simple Craftsman one (because of the unconditional warranty) They don't sell craftsman chalk boxes anymore.

Then it was the Irwin black and yellow plastic ones.

Well last week I dropped $30 bucks for a Tajima. I saw a guy snap a very clean and bold line and I knew I "needed" that tool.

Any other high dollar "cool" hand tools out there I should be looking at? (Have to be something I would carry in the bags - and use every day...and "cool")

I've used this one for awhile Mike. One thing to watch for is long distances, the line may "wander" slightly. You really got to crank on the fishing line in there. It's not the same as your Irwin one. It does leave a beaut of a line though. Oh...and it holds a boatload of chaulk (that was for MALCO)

Ink lines...I've heard of them, never used them. I hear they make a super crisp line.

Re: New Chalk Box

I just like the fact that I can snap a line for chair rail and not have to worry about chalk getting everywhere. The few lines I did snap with it were VERY crisp. It's just going to take a little getting used to with the line being as thin as it is, I'm always afraid I'm going to pull it to hard and snap it.

Re: New Chalk Box

anyone here use powdered mortar dye in their chalk box? I tried red. I dropped the tiniest amount on a carpet. It was toast. It also turns everything in the washing machine pink....kinda permanently. I switched to black.

Re: New Chalk Box

I have a tajima. (blue box w/blue chalk) I have their chalk as well. Funny that I haven't thrown out all my other chalk lines. I will toss them aside as I'm looking for my tajima in my bucket buddy. Rule of thumb for a bucket buddy. the tool you are looking for will inevitable fall out of its pocket and sink to the bottom of the mess o tools in your bucket buddy.
