Need help picking new heavy duty drill

I'm drilling 4500 , 3/4 inch holes into 6x6 doug fir with what amounts to a high speed steel bit with carbide tips (the only bit we can use too much to go into to explain).

My crew has burnt up two mil. hole hawgs , one makita 1/2 drill and one porter cable 1/2 drill. The only drill still working is my hitli uh 650 but it is on the way out.

We are drilling horizontally so drill weight is an issue.

If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks

No replies I see, but I did find something to go on that some of you might have additional information about.

It looks like some of the smaller bosch and hilti combi hammers would fit the role except that they have sds and sds max chucks. Is there a conversion for that to regular chucks and if so, how well do they work?

Thanks

You can go to a Hilti factory store and they can change the chuck on it from SDS to Jacobs.

Go to us.hilti.com you can find the adapter you are looking for to go from SDS to Jacobs Style.
If you go this route you will have the best of both worlds, the adapters are very solid and hold up well.

How many holes are you getting before the drill motors smoke?

We had pretty good luck beating a small Bosch 1191VSRK to death on a couple of thousand holes in concrete for wedge anchors. We eventually smoked it but only after it more than earned it's keep in pretty harsh conditions.

The D handle Milwaukee's are heavier and turn slower but they've held up very well for us.

If it were me ,I would go to a pawn shop,or flea market or even craigslist and buy some cheap junkers,if they are going to get burned up anyway. You can prolly get them for $20-$30, get done ,and if any survive it's a bonus
