My First Paslode Cordless Guns

Just bought my first Paslodes (Angled finising nailer and straight brad nailer). I do a lot of custom trim work and the idea of no compressor or hoses in a customer's home was appealing. The DeWalt was just too heavy (about 9 pounds!) I've heard good things about the Paslodes so far and think it's time to go cordless. My Porter Cable pneumatics were/are terrific workhorses. What can I expect from the Paslodes?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I've had mine about 5yrs. and although I don't use them on a daily basis I haven't had any problems with it, knocking on wood.

They work fine, - - just clean 'em regularly, - - and keep 'em away from your 'dust-throwing' tools.

Re: My First Paslode Cordless Guns

I love my framing and use the dog pizz outta my finish nailer, clean is the name of the game for internals though!!!! when they start getting misfires it's either the gas cartridge is getting low or it needs to be cleaned, I like to clean mine about every 1-1.5 gas cartridges.

Only thing I dont like now is after all these years and battery installs/removals the batteries are worn so bad I have to install a shim to keep contat to use, but I can imagine the tens of thousands of brads this thing has shot.

I did screw up the other day though and bought a new porter cable corded finish gun 18ga I think, the super small hole it leaves behind is non existant compared to the big holes left by the paslodes, so when i'm doing really nice finish work I now pull out the porter cable. but because of this I'm forced into buying yet ANOTHER air compressor that is lighter/smaller than the other 2 i use for framing....back to the tools buyers anyonmious thread....see ya there

Re: My First Paslode Cordless Guns

Paslode finishing nailers? Why mess with the gas cartridges, the batteries, the cleaning issues and don't they only use Paslode nails? Dewalt cordless uses anybodies nails and all you need is a fresh battery, they are more accurate than my PC compresser guns. Too heavy? Come on now 9 pounds? Dewalt doesn't make a cordless brad nailer yet, but when they do, I'll be buying that one too.

Regardless of what you bought, you are certainly in for a treat getting away from the compressor! I used my cordless finishing nailer all day today, God I love that thing!

Those Dewalts are HUGE. I'll take my lil' Paslode anyday. It's all about lightweight if you are going cordless, right?

Re: My First Paslode Cordless Guns

there is a paslode framer out in the middle of a northwestern indiana cornfield if anyone wants it. had nothing but problems with it. refuses to work in the cold. i would rather drag out the hoses and compressor just for less hassle. i would hope the trim guns would be better

Love my paslods too. I have the framer, angle nailer and pinner. No problems at all except for what bench said, they dont work in the cold worth a damn.

If you guys would just spend a little more time 'tucking-them-in' at night . . . !!

Seriously, - - put them up there in the cab with all the heat on the way to the job, - - they'll do just fine.

Maybe I should invent a Paslode 'battery-sweater'!!

Re: My First Paslode Cordless Guns

I have to agree with Finley. I have a DeWalt cordless on each of the trucks and those things are awesome. Never have to worry about fuel, cleaning, just batteries. Plenty of power and accurate. As accurate as my PC guns??UMM?
Guess it depends on who's pulling the trigger. Also the bump fire works incredibly well. I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't the one shoot'n it.

9#'s, I never weighed it. If carrying around that much weight for a work day is too much for any of you, maybe you should hire someone to follow you around carrying your hammer and tape measure too . Besides, If your going to be firing all day don't you break out the compressor? We do. We use the DeWalt for small jobs.
