Muro Autofeed Screwgun - Looking For Feedback

I had a Muro salesman stop by my worksite today to show me the Muro Ultra Driver and their Power driver... http://www.muro.com

I am interested in getting the Ultra driver (due to it's versatility) and am awaiting an email with the pricing for the gun and screws. I like the fact that they have everything from drywall screws to composite screws. My only concern at this point is the delivery and availability of the screws - I refuse to hold up a job waiting for screws - but those are questions for the salesman.

Anyway, has anyone here used any of the Muro products and if so, what did you think?

Re: Muro Autofeed Screwgun - Looking For Feedback

Hi,

I have been using the Muro screwguns since 1992 and love them. The comfort and stability of the tool compared to others on the market (IMO)give it an advantage of being able to use the tool for extended periods without the fatigue in wrists, forearms, and fingers that I have experienced with senco, quickdrive, pam....tried them all over the years. Hit it right the first time with Muro. I have no problem receiving screws for the jobs. I order here in Oregon from Oregon Roofer Supply (they don't stock the screws, but have them shipped to me from their distributor). If I order by 10:am, I get them the next morning from Seattle!! and shipping is minimal, about $4 per box. The cost of the tool and the screws are a little more than competitors, but the coils hold about 150 screws= less stopping and loading of the tool than the ones that use the strip coalation. Also the Muro tool has adjustments to accomodate other brands of coalated screws as well. You can use quickdrive screws in the Muro tool in a pinch.

Hope this helps
chris

've got the big Muro- actually 3 of them.

It's what we use for putting down non-hfs decks. it's one of our "secret weapons"...

Are you able to make accurate screw patterns with a Muro? In other words, the name of the game is speed with a Muro and it would seem that making sure your screw placements are consistent from board to board?

or a complaint. However, we've never been the kind to make a jig & strike lines either. There's a limit to the "anal-ness" I'll allow.

Honestly, you're standing directly over the board, so it's not too hard to line it up by eye.
But that would be a valid concern if your personality dictated that every screw be 100% perfect.

Good thoughts!

We have the Senco version and works great for wood decks and sub-floors. I like the fact that we can use the same screws as the dura spin
We have not done any composite jobs with it but I know you can get trim heads scews and colored composite scews and the screws are stocked locally here MI

I stay far away from face screwing for that very reason. To me, all the screws need to be placed like you meant it. Not willy-nilly.

The last face screwed deck I did a couple of years ago ended up looking like **** to me after we were done because the screw placements weren't consistent. Granted, the HOs didn't complain, but it bothered me enough to worry. But, like you said, no one probably worries about it.

Put it to you guys this way, my speed square has little indentations on it from using it to gauge screw placements. When I draw a line with it, is sounds like zzzzztickzzzztickzzzzz.
