(the screwdrivers mentioned would be the Bosch GSR10.8Li and the metabo powermaxx)

DeepOne, could you tell me did you modify the Skill 2972 for more power or a better power supply?

Is it still a 7.2v tool?

Re: Modifying A Skill 2972 Cordless Screwdriver

Yes, Slickshift, it is a 7,2V screwdriver, but external lead-acid 6V battery bring him at once more power and better supply, because this battery has good AMP rating. In total, motor RPM and torque higher with this, then the internal 7,2V AA-sized battery. Also this screwdriver need replace internal battery pack because originally mounted elements, labeled "BYD" is very low quality device. With new battery pack soldering from "Camelion" 0,8Ah Ni-cd elements (designed for high drain devices, 0.7$ per unit, need six) this screwdriver can twist double amount of screws, then the original battery. External 6V battery may be plugged up if internal power source is near empty and its voltage reduced. Common battery capacity constitute 5Ah. I have exploit this screwdriver more than a year and i suppose it very useful in electric installation and light wood construction.

If you want to read russian topics, you may use tidy convertor english<>russian "Socrat 4". It may be downloaded from
(ftp softlinks.ru/4045279/spers41.exe). It's size 5.88MB. I found it today .
Can be interesting this, for example:

forum.kstr.ru/index.php?topic=366.0 - around Panasonic screwdriver;
mastercity.ru/cgi-bin/ml.cgi?test&44 - test of small screwdrivers;
mastercity.ru/vforum/ - big forum, similar this;
forum.4-mastera.ru/index.php?showtopic=569&st=0 - Bosch4DFE inside;
etc.
