MAKITA 10" HANDS DOWN USED TO OWN A DEWALT 12" ALWAYS OUT OF SQUARE AND THE BLADE IS SO BIG THAT I WOBBLES WHEN YOU LET OFF THE TRIGGER AND I CAN HIT THE MOLDING YOU ARE CUTTING AND IT TAKES A TINY BIT OUT OF IT UNNOTICEABLE BY EYE UNTIL IT IS NAILED UP AND THERE IS A SPACE BETWEEN THE 2 PIECES OF MOLDING . THE MAKITA 10" IS SO PRECISE ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY AND IT SITS PERFECT ON THE RYOBI UNIVERSAL STAND AT THE DEPOT FOR 100 DOLLARS

If I had the money, I'd take a good look at the Festool Kapex when it gets released.

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

I just picked up the Hitachi 12" dual bevel and cant complain. Im no fan of the laser, but its a very smooth start and stop, the micro adj are amazing, and i put it on the delta saw stand and its the best rig ive used, i can load and unload it out of the back of my truck and just wheel it into position.

First post.

I have plenty of experience with the Bosch, Makita, and Hitachi 10 inchers. When it came time to buy my own tools I went with the bosch. To be honest it came down to a coin flip. I don't regret getting the bosch at all. All 3 of these saws are very good.

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

The Bosch is a good saw, it comes close to a great saw with a quality blade(mastsu****a, tenryu) of course those would turn most saws into a good saw. Hell they turn a 7 1/4" saw into a fine piece of equipment. The new makita is not even close to their old one with the single slide covered with the black condom. I had a new one and the casting started slowly falling apart, untill one day when installing crown, the top half of the saw fell off the bottom half (where the radial arm part attaches to the back of the slides. Nice, 3 months old. Got HD's Dumb asses to give me a new one in the box. Took it straight to my-nards and exchanged it for the bosch 12" slider. Got a free router by rebate to boot!

KAPEX!!!!!
its gonna be like $1400.00 bucks though

it edits out a company name huh? matsush!ta

My Makita has been flawless. I guess everyone has different experiences. I had a DeValt and it was mediocre along with my Bosch.

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

there is a casting that looks like a domino inside the back of the saw where the bevel adjust stuff is. Well there is a big spring in there and each leg of the spring ( kinda looks like the thing you squeeze in your hand) is on each side of that domino. Well the castings broke and the domino fell off the the top of the saw followed. makita's old saws were the best, my buddy has put 100,000+ft. of trim with an antique makita compound miter saw I think it is 15 or 20 years old. We used it the other day for some shoe. I am always afraid it will cut my finger off. He still has all of his though.

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

I own the Makita LS1214FL 12" dual comp. slider... same as the 10's that you see in Depot, but with the 12 blade... Excellent saw, smoothest I've ever operated, calibration is dead on, controls are smooth and clear, and has a larger fence vs. it's little brother. Well worth every dollar

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

I'm about to pick up a Bosch 5412 plus their 4100 table saw (both with gravity rise stands).
Also going to pick up their 1590 Jig and their WormDrive...all in one great shopping spree.

That's one thing I love about "not" being a big time contractor.
I still do my own work and I still get excited when I buy a tool.

Re: Which Mitre Saw Do You Guys Prefer?

Hey TW,
Yeah...that's exactly what I've been doing. I ask guys smarter than me what they use and read as much as I can. I used to be a hardcore DeWalt guy, but when I began to use Bosch at several of the sites that I worked at, I couldn't deny them.

I still love DeWalt for Cordless tools and I love their table saw and 12" Miter. But there are some places where Bosch is simply superior (Demo Hammers, Jig Saw, Worm Drive, Miter Saw, Table Saw...). I want the best that I can afford.

I'll be broke for a while, but they will pay for themselves!

WOW i just found a price on one of those:

http://www.acetoolonline.com/Festool...FRaQggodclpDQQ

I am sorry but there is no way that thing is worth almost over three times as much as my hitachi. I am all for quality tools. I usually have the best most expensive one out there. But...1300 bucks for a miter saw is a little hard to swallow. Especially when it is only a 10". I am pretty sure you could get an equal cut out of a bosch makita or hitachi 10"
