I don't think most people realize just how big of a developement that technology would be. It would truely change the power options for anything mobile with a motor, & that covers a lot of ground.

Electric cars would definately receive a big boost in more ways than one. Recharging on long trips might be as simple as stopping to eat, while your car recharges. I might also make hybrid regeneration cycles more effective. It could be the first step in making pere electric cars practical, especially in the 50 mile a day range. Gas stations would also sell electricity!

Eventually we will need more generating plants, but if the need arises, they will get built, be it nuclear, or whatever.

The next hurdle that they need to cross is how to build a battery that isn't a nightmare to deal with when it no longer works, or make them so that they don't have a lifespan. Then electric cars will be a viable every day alternative.
