Mini-me Of Table Saws

anyone have this yet from DW...it's their new mini-me of table saws

DW745

I've been trying to ignore this saw but finally gave in and picked one up today. I will still love my Ridgid table saw but for most jobs this new DeWalt table saw will be easier to deal with for every day use.

They also have a seperate stand for this saw but could not find it anywhere on DeWalt's website as of yet, not surprised though.

Here is one of the site's I found it at...
DW7450 Stand

at 36 years old, I find myself trying to make certain tasks more convenient and easier on the back.

I am looking forward to using this hopefully some time this week.

I'll let you guys know how I like it. If anyone else has one, please post your comments, thanks!

I have that setup as well (my saw is the older model before the roll cage though) and I love it. Rack n pinion fence is awesome.

Re: Mini-me Of Table Saws

Robert, I was sipping my beer after clicking on that link, been a while since I've had beer come thru the nose, hehe.

After loading/unloading my Ridgid TS2400LS without a helper, this DeWalt will be mini enough for me.

Anyone recommend a good replacement blade for my new DeWalt? I'll probably use the stock one for a while and see how things go.

Re: Mini-me Of Table Saws

That's interesting to me that there is a market for a tiny table saw, kind of defeats the purpose to me. If I could I would take my full size rigid table saw to the job site, nothing beats a huge table to help with stock and a rock solid fence, and a big heavy base that makes the saw stay put. Nothing I hate more than trying to cut something on a table saw and you start pushing the saw around the floor while you are feeding it!

Re: Mini-me Of Table Saws

Mike...I agree with you 100% but I have jobs where I just need to rip down material for extension jambs, rip down a couple pieces of hardwood flooring, some cedar, etc...

on jobs where I will be needing the table saw for heavier work and will most likely be there longer, I will haul out my bigger table saw but don't really feel the need to lug around the big table saw to every job, I'm sure you understand.

I do like the weight of the bigger table saw for larger/heavier ripping but don't want to keep my big table saw in the van and would rather bring it to the site when the bigger table saw will be justified to be there.

That thing looks like a photoshop job! Weird.

I guess I see what you are saying. Seems like if they make it, somebody will have a use for it. I always thought the contcrator table saw was compromise enough, but I stand corrected.

It's this one:
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...=1170167809638
It's a Mastercraft Brand sold by Canadian Tire up here. I have a feeling it's the same as a Craftsman only with differnt colours. I has no knob for rotating the table, and the lock is just a lever you push down. You have to rotate to mitre positions by unlocking and turning the table by holding the main handle. Absolutely primitive and kind of dangerous. However, I am only using this thing when I have to make a couple of cuts that don't warrant lugging my 50 pound Makita around.

I got it at a store opening sale for $69 bucks. Couldn't turn it down. I'm thinking about painting some flames on it so I don't get laughed at when I pull it out.

Re: Mini-me Of Table Saws

that is a neat little saw, but that's all it is a neat little saw, I have yet to find a reason to bring my table saw to a jobsite that a trim saw and/or circ saw w/ripfence couldnt handle. infeed, outfeed support, featherboards onsite blah... get same results by putting stock on blocks and taking a saw to it rather than it to the saw, at least where a dado blade or shoulder cut support is not needed. On a side note that saw that awidmeyer posted, I could definitely see the a use for that in my arsenal, I wan' t one. anyone ever take their radial arm saw onsite, hell of alot better performance than a jobsite table saw

Thanks... The crapsman one is a little cheaper. I just want it because I dont want to haul around my 12" SCMS all the time. But I would like to have something I know will chop a few things. I see it getting used a few times a year to cut 2x2 balusters with 45 degree angles.

Re: Mini-me Of Table Saws

Yep, It cuts 2x2's and 2x4's pretty well actually. Like I said, it's primitive, but it's fairly accurate. And you will laugh out loud when you pick it up.
