Microwave In Your Truck?

Anybody have a microwave set up in their truck? I'm considering doing that. The electrical part is no problem, but the mechanical part, like mounting and damage prevention, has some options. If anyone has any pictures they'd like to share, I'd like to see them.

I'm sure you're looking for something not-quite-as-spectacular as this abortion:

What kind of "truck" are you talking about?

Re: Microwave In Your Truck?

When I still drove a van I had one in the back, one of the little ones designed to hang under cabinets, I bolted it right to the shelves, and used a Honda generator for power.

MD, Most of the microwaves have feet on the bottom that you can unscrew, and run machine screwed through the bottom of a shelf and into the threaded holes that the feet were screwed into. Google for some pictures of microwaves set up in RV's

Re: Microwave In Your Truck?

We had one, great for gloves in the winter, also hot soup, hot chocolate and microwave pizzas (mmmmmmmm microwave pizza), mounted similar to what Patrick said, replaced the "feet" with rubber isolaters to give it a little cushion on bumps. I'll add a few things, the first I'm sure you'll catch (I didn't), no glass plate that comes in most microwaves, it's the first thing to break. The second unless you get a microwave with a real positive latch use a bungee cord or something to keep the door shut, I learned that the hard way as well.

Re: Microwave In Your Truck?

we have had one for years in our step van just set it on a shelf with a lip and run it off the welder. the step van does does see much off road action. never broke the plate yet now it is in the office trailer but never had no trouble except it takes a long time to heat up 4 or 5 lunches and the noise of the welder

Thats how the the microwave was installed in our motorhome. I replaced it with a micro/convection oven.

The other way I have seen them installed is with a 2" wide metal strap that goes across the top and down the sides with a little 1" or so flange. The strap is made a little short so when you screw it down through the flange it gets tight around the micro cabinet and holds the micro down to the shelf it is sitting on.

Are you just looking at pics of my trailer set up while talking?? I have the 1/2 fridge, toaster oven, microwave, heater, and a coffee pot. We use 5 gal buckets to sit on because they serve dual purpose.
