Max CN100 Overdrives Nails
Hello
I just started using a Max CN100 and find it drives the nails much deeper than I want it to into Pine. I like that it will hold up to 400 nails from 2.5" -4" but I am using 3.25 x .131 and its burying them about 1/4" -5/16" into the lumber. I tried dialing down the input pressure and got it down to around 50psi and it would still bury the head but at the lower pressure the feed piston would not advance the next nail. I put pressure back to 80psi(min listed) and feed works fine again. I am wondering if anyone knows a way to adjust the drive force down? Also it seems to have what I would call a "double tap" feature where if you keep the trigger depressed it will tap the nail a second time (ensuring it is driven too deep) If I try to momentarily depress the trigger and pull away(tried everything) it does not double tap but still overdrives the nail. Is there anyway to disable that? I have 3 of these guns and am now looking to ebay at least two of them becuase I dont want the nails driven so far in. Ill keep one for big heavy jobs.' Also anyone know if they could drive into concrete? Are there nails available? |

Re: Max CN100 Overdrives Nails
Why did you get these guns for framing?
These guns are way too heavy duty for framing, and especially shooting into pine. They are made to shoot together oak or hardwood pallets, and thats also why they weigh almost 12 lbs. By the way those guns go for about $700 each. |

Re: Max CN100 Overdrives Nails
You could always file down the hammer pin so it can't drive them as far. But you will lose the option of the deep driver permanently

Re: Max CN100 Overdrives Nails
You could do that, but who wants to lug around a 12 lb gun all day. These things got to weigh more than the ancient Duofast stick nailer I had over 20 years ago.

Re: Max CN100 Overdrives Nails
Thanks for the file down advise. I think I will try and find someone that can sell me a new pin and then file that down so I can switch back if I want to toe nail or something else with the one I am keeping. Yes they weigh a ton and am looking for smaller lighter version. Not a lot of true frameing here anyway all real structures are concrete. So..............anyone know of an online store that would sell parts for MAX? I want to get the pin and a seal kit while I am at it. I am a long way from anywhere!
