I would just get the Makita without the stand and drop it in a Rouseu stand.

I love Makita tools, but, The Bosch with GR is the real deal. Mine is about 2 years old and every bit as powerful as my contractors saw and less than half the weight. My only gripe is the location of the levelers, they drag when rolling it over uneven terrain, I took mine off and just shim it.

It does not go up steps well. The 4100 isnt much different, it has a digital gauge, but I would probably throw it away, a little cosmeticly different but mostly the same. I had an old 8 1/4" makita table saw, it was ok but for portable and still presise bosch wins everytime

Check Amazon, there are 8 reviews posted. I would post a link but I'm not allowed to yet.

I've had that makita saw, it lasts. Either saw is fine really but get the Rouseu stand- it makes a huge difference!!

The Makita is a great saw. The stand is great too, very portable and easy to use. Two thumbs up

It's heavy as hell. Even with the stand and wheels.

I don't think it's heavy at all. Not any heavier than any other portable table saw because they all weigh around 100lbs.

I don't own it but I own the Bosch. I have messed with the Makita @ 7corners and my impression is that it is almost as good. The features and build quality of the saws themselves are neck and neck with the Bosch's fence edging out only by a hair IMO. It really comes down to the stands. Here the GR Bosch stand blows away the Makita's. I mean... come on, the Bosch stand is genius.

I should note that the Bosch was the 4000. From what I can tell the 4100 is only different in a few aspects.
