Re: Looking At A Festool Cordless Drill

I just found out how spendy Festool is also... I went to buy a TS55 yesterday and ended up adding a long track and ct22 vac w/ hose garage and some extra blades... Good God that stuff was expensive. I love how integrated and ergonomic everything seems to be, but the price of accessories is just ridiculous. I'm hoping someone will start making some generic blades to keep the maintenance cost down somewhat.

35 bucks is not very much money for a high quality saw blade. You can have them sharpened.

All Festool Power tools are made and assembled in germany at their facility. Sand paper and a few othe consumables are made in the czhek republic.

I paid $50 and $60 for the extra blades, a universal and a fine tooth. I thought that was pretty steep for circ saw blades. Hell, a 7 1/4" titanium-tipped steel-cutting blade is only $50... I guess $35 is for the standard blade, how does that do for general trim use? (MDF, veneered plywood, 1x pine, sometimes hardwood and 2x, door slabs, etc)

I have the Panther Blade 41.00, I use it for ripping thick stock or cross cutting thick stock.
I have the Fine tooth that came with the TS-55 and I use it for almost everything else, doors, 1x, cabinets, etc.

I got almost 8 moths of regular use out of the fine tooth before I had it sharpened.

I guess the cost of the blades does not phase me too much, hell I use 7 1/4" blades that are 24 bucks a pop.

Seriously though, you probably cannot find a better blade than the Festool ones.

Tenryu started making blades for these saws as well, not sure of the price on those though.

Five Star- Those are some seriously wicked looking blades huh? Tell you what though, they sure make a nice clean cut.

Festool was working on those new drills and battery's for like 3 years before they felt comfortable enough to put them out.
The Germans still dont trust Lithium Ion very much.

Re: Looking At A Festool Cordless Drill

8 months, wow... if I get that kind of life out of mine I'll gladly pay the price. I'll still look into the Tenryu's, I've been using one of their steel-cutting blades and it's amazing. I'm doing a big wainscot job with corrugated steel panels and it's cut about 30-40 panels so far like butter. I was hoping to use the ts55 for this but can't find anyone local who stocks Festool blades for steel.

FiveStar it was hard for me to leave the dealer without spending more too, I hate how one thing leads to another and another. If you get the vac, you need the hose garage. Oh but wait, then there's the cleaning kit and boom arm, plus the bags, the filters, etc. You buy the saw, but then theres tracks, connectors, clamps, blades, splinterguards and on and on...

Re: Looking At A Festool Cordless Drill

JL-That would be because Festool does not make a metal cutting blade for the 55, only the 75.
They have an aluminum cutting blade for the 55.
