Re: Look Familiar???

I just bought one of these. Never used the Fein so I can't compare. I used the Rockwell to flush cut some base moulding along a wall, and plunge cut a chunk out of a 2x4 stud in a tight space. Worked well for this.

Re: Look Familiar???

I might be tempted.
$150 for the variable speed
with more blades than the
$200 Fein.....
Damn late night infomercials!

Amen to that! I love the Fein but the damned blades will bust you out.
They do last pretty long though. I had to cut a lot of metal drywall bead last month to install baseboards and the blades did better than I thought they would.
Excellent for tight sanding conditions, that tool is.

Re: Look Familiar???

I have never heard of Rockwell, definitely can't be a big name in Canada.

What is Rockwell like? I've been wanting a Fein for a while, but been putting it off...

Rockwell was once THE Defense and Machine Equipment Company of the World.

They are regaining a bit of Market Share.

None of those Rockwells are on point.
I've been trying to track the genesis
of this incarnation.
The old Rockwell/Delta disappeared for
a couple of decades before these folks
popped up.
My circa 1980 Rockwell miter saw was
very near the end of the line.
(I believe that was the first electric miter box)

Only thing for sure is Pentair owns the Rockwell
name (and the do have a Canadian presence).

That may well be true,
but it isn't me.
Read my links.
Read your links.

Norman Rockwell has nothing
to do with the tools either.
Nor does George Lincoln Rockwell.
Nor does Rockwell International.

Read my links, and you may find them mentioned.
If you go to the original link
http://www.rockwelltoolsdirect.com/s...fter-sets.html
and click the "About" button,
you'll find the parent company
Pentair.

OOOps, Just noticed that you
quit playing.....

Re: Look Familiar???

I'm still curious WTF Pentair has
been doing with the Rockwell name
for the last 20 odd years, and
why they have resurfaced it in a
relatively large way in the last
six months?

I have a warm place in my heart
for the old Rockwell brand.
Still use that miter saw regularly.
I'd hate it if they are putting
it on crap.
