Joist Hanger Guns

had the chance to use a Bostich joist hanger gun the other day and think thats the greatest contribution to mankind since pizza

was wondering how the Senco stacks up to the bostich or if there is a better brand than the two

I don't know. I like the Paslode, myself. I do use the Bostitch palm nailer.

Re: Joist Hanger Guns

I am a hitachi user of framing guns, however, my positve placement nailers are all Bostitch MCN250's. You need to find one that fits what your going to be doing with it. The guns I have sold me on an exposed nail tip for ease of getting the nail where you want it to go, it is very compact, light, and has a rafter hook. My vote is Bostitch..Paslode's are a heavy gun...what are your other tools.....what are you comfortable with servicing??...p.s. it does smell a little funny in here....j/k

Re: Joist Hanger Guns

I think we've used all of the PP guns out there for JLC except the Max High Pressure. I used that at JLC LIVE last year and it was awesome!

I prefer the Bostitch MCN150 and 250 guns, but the Hitachi are good too. The Paslode is heavy which is a real drag after shooting on hangers for awhile.

To be honest, I can't recall what all I found out testing them, but I know that we use the Bostitch quite a bit. Those tools are just plain must haves to me.

Re: Joist Hanger Guns

I have heard of palm nailers before but i have never used one nor have i saw one in a store before untill this past summer my local lumber yard had some of these for sale right next to the check out counter. So i got one. Besides being loud as hell, i love it. No more hand nailing hangers for me. It was funny when i brought it out and our newly hired 17 year old help was wondering why i had not gotten one before we had him hand nail about 300 hurricane ties, hangers, etc. on the last 3 houses we did.

I got the Rigid palm nailer this year (when it was finally available here) for joist hangers - best $79 I've spent on a tool in awhile!

Me and my guys actually fight to be the one to use it.

OK. Now you are only 10 years behind the latest technology.

Just spend the dough and buy the Bostitch 150. It'll be the best money you've spend in a long while. I haven't used my palm nailer in two years.

Re: Joist Hanger Guns

I've been using the paslode for about 5-6 years,it's a good gun that will shoot long and short nails, but it is heavy and doesn't have a hook on it,also it's easy to clear jambs. If I ever get busy again I'll prolly get a bostitch 150 gun cuz I hardly use the longer nail and if I do I can use the pasload.

Re: Joist Hanger Guns

i am with greg the 150 is my most favorite gun for decking framing... except i still use my palm nailer b/c the 2-1/2" SS collated nails are insanely priced.

so for decks that get the Stainless Steel package we use the mcn-150 with collated 1-1/2" SS (which are not that bad) and a palm nailer for the 2-1/2's. i used a $19 grizzly palm nailer for the last 3-4 years, but recently bought a griptite mini since the grizzly started leaking air.
