Jobsite Winter Storage Of Caulking & Glues
There have been a few posts on this subject when this time of year approaches. Just wondering if there are any new ideas on keeping these types of items in your trailer or truck overnite without having to take them inside.

Re: Jobsite Winter Storage Of Caulking & Glues
i am debating the cooler with a heating pad idea again this year... i am more concerned of my Li batteries then i am my caulk though ;-)
i was actually just searching around on amazon for a solar type system to power it so i don't have to plug my truck in at night ;-) |

Re: Jobsite Winter Storage Of Caulking & Glues
y'know that's a good point about the batteries..............what about a Li battery that would run a lightbulb in a box?
any thoughts?.......anyone?

i thought about the bulb in a box in the truck too, but i don't think it will run off a Li battery...
i was looking at a deepcell battery/solar panel(mounted to the top of my cap)/inverter/heating pad/cooler method. i am just not sure how long the system would run for. any ideas on that one ;-) i need a sparky ;-) |

Re: Jobsite Winter Storage Of Caulking & Glues
A classic way is to use an old refrigerator or chest freezer. Lighten it up by removing the compressor and the rest of the guts. Solar panels can be found here http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...544&storeNum=9
As far as the math, much will depend on the criteria such as temps., the amount and intensity of sunlight, the size and configuration of the box, how often it's entered, etc. I would also want to keep the storage battery(s) warm as that's when they're most efficient. From my very limited travels to the north in winter, the concept could work in the western mountain area and probably not in the northeast or northwest.

Re: Jobsite Winter Storage Of Caulking & Glues
I have one of those ice chests that plug in to a cig lighter. It cools and heats. I wonder if that would work?
