After 25 plus yrs of bullitproof use,I just retired my 8-1/4 makita benchtop table saw for the 10" jet belt drive benchtop.Paid $207.00 shipped...So far I really like it.Well built saw overall and the belt drive makes it a little smoother and quieter than the makita.Nice heavy top with an adjustable extension.I cut 3/4 oak all day with it and it works great once I put a good frued blade on it...A lot of saw for $200 bucks..

10" table saw has 15A Smooth Speed belt drive transmission with poly V belt to eliminate blade vibration and extend the life of the motor along with providing quieter operation and better transfer of power.
Transmission???

You mean two pulleys and a belt is considered a transmission

Too funny.

Hahaha, according to the dictionary yes, the 5 speed manuel was most likely discontinued due to the dangers involved with a shiftstick next to blade, let alone added cost.
