Jenny Emglo Compressors

I just noticed in another thread that Jenny is making the old Emglo compressors. I was a big emglo fan until Dewalt ruined them (just like just about every other tool Dewalt makes). Does anyone here have one of the new Jenny compressors?

i was lucky enough 6 or 7 years ago to get the last runs of the blue emglos before dewalt bought them. i hadn't heard that dewalt 5.5 hp honda wheelbarrows had problems? i have that compressor but in blue emglo, and also a portercable jobboss that i have been very happy with and run it more times than the gas powered one. gas prices this past summer drove me to get an electric one. i'm not paying the electric bill at these jobsites, but with the gas one, i am. lol.
so are you saying they are going to be made by the original emglo company again and blue? i doubt black and decker would back out or sell it back to them. i'm sure there are plenty of guys out there with yellow and black compressors from the homecheapo.

Yes, they are back to making the old blue compressors, not labled anymore as emglo, they are now called a Jenny. Black and Decker sold the emglo plant to Jenny after they moved their operations to Mexico. Jenny apparently has been working with emglo for the last 30 years manufacturing parts and such for them.

Jenny's have the same issues the old emglos had. Run way to hot, burn oil, flat tires, decks cracking, valves baking shut, hard to work on, hard on the engines, tires going flat, hard to drain air etc etc. There is newer out there, you just have to pay for it.

Jenny used to make the tanks for emglo. Jenny does not own the old emglo plant. The second plant emglo was in is owned by my grandpa, the plant they where in before they moved to mexico, was turned into a hardware supply store.

If you want the top of line get J-Air. It is designed by the person who designed all the emglo pumps and compressors from the 70's on. In fact the G pump is named after him. Fixed all the issues, Decks wont crack they are beefed up and reinforced in 3 places. Vertically mount pilot valves to keep the water and dirt from getting caught and staying in there, ball drain valves to drain the tanks, flat free tires (roll like pneumatic but wont go flat), newer pump tech nology, there are two 5.5 hp pumps availabe. One runs 120degrees cooler and puts out 20% more air then an old emglo, one runs 100 degrees cooler and puts out .1 cfm more air (you will notice a difference though because of the way the unit is designed to deliver the air to the guns). Easy to use belt tighteningin system, can be done with one 9/16 wrench. Oil site glasses. Automatic cold start valves on pumps so the engine is easier to pull start and allows lower idle. 9 gallon tank for easier wheeling and more air storage. Heavy steel forging holding tire in to keep from busting out, when dropped out of truck. Heavy duty legs (we test these by dragging the units behind a pickup truck a 1/4 mile).

Anyway, most places sale the j-air in blue, or orange, your choice really.

Have a good night

Anyone ever use Rol-Air? I've seen them around, but never used one. Only sold through Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors and not at home centers.

I've owned my emglo for about 18 years,i have no complaints,Nothing has ever broken,i change the oil once in while and always check the tank for water build up.It runs off of 110 or 220 volts. My poratble Campbell hausfield has held up well, only the seal on the copper pipe to the tank leaked,so instead of ordering parts i repaired it myself with common copper fittings.changing a portion of the 3/8 to 1/2 changed the shutoff range to about 130lbs so i adjust it back down to 120 lbs and it works great call me cheap but those tool repair bills can get real high sometimes.
