Japanese handtools

I got a Japanese style pull saw (double sided) and it is a work of art and a pleasure to use. I look for places to use it and even use it where I probably should not, but I like it.

I have the Silky "PocketBoy." It's the sharpest folding pocket saw I've found so far. It comes in handy quite often.

I get the Japan Woodworker catalog and have visited their web site. I've never bought anything though. Everything I wanted I found less expensive at Amazon or elsewhere. I am big on quality though, so if I could prove to myself that a product I could only get from them was superior to any other, I'd probably buy it.

Since were sharing specialty tool supplier recommendations, here's mine:

I keep these catalogs, and also Japan Woodworker on hand. If your in the Chicago land area or ever will be, Berland's House of Tools is a great specialty tool store.

All of these places should also have Japanese hand tools.

Berland's is great, I wish they would become a Hilti distributor, it would save me trips to Oak Lawn to buy anchors.
