I Need A New Belt Sander
I own an older Porter Cable 4x24 Belt sander that has seen it time. I was wondering what you would recommend to me to buy for a new one. Should I also go down to the 3x21 size? Base your recommendations on what you have used and did you find it satisfactory. Thanks.

Re: I Need A New Belt Sander
I was in the same place a couple of years ago. I had a PC oil cooled belt sander also. It was a great sander. It was a 3 x 21 size. I have used lesser sanders and couldn't imagine buying anything less than the Ol PC. I ended up with a equivalent PC 360vs 3 x 24. It should last me another 50 years. They are great sanders. This one even has power windows (var speed) and a dust bag. The size has always worked for me. Very happy with the new one.

Re: I Need A New Belt Sander
Leo: I just bought a 21/3 today. Craftsman heavy duty, bought it used at a 2nd hand tool shop. $40.00 American made. Thing is perfect, used very little. I stopped by Sears the new ones are Chinese $8o.oo and wheigh half as much.
The guy also had a new looking PC for $120.00. It's getting harder to find quality power tools. I try to buy American. Loco |

Re: I Need A New Belt Sander
Reminds me of ages ago when I was in high school and the shop teacher would leave for a while we'd break out the extention cords and belt sanders , get on them and have drag races across the shop. Those were the days!

Re: I Need A New Belt Sander
I not only have both a 3 X 21 and a 4 X 24 (both PC), - - but I also have this little 2 1/2" X 16" (sandcat??), - - little sucker is handy as hell, especially for one-handed operations, - - I've had it about 12, maybe even 15 years, - - it just won't die.
