Hitch Helper

OK, just saw this and I am not sure what to think. I guess it is similar to the Cement Trucks with the extended rear axles.

Well, I won't say too much. Look for yourselves and tell me what you think?
Here is their web site Stinger Hitch Helper

What a great idea! Instead of using my trailer, (or spending $50 to rent one) I can spend $1200 for a Hitch Helper to overload my truck. Wonder what diesel-bears would say... And think of all the time we could save not having to balance the load on equipment trailers...

You've got to be kidding!

See now I am wondering what kind of impact this would have on braking, steering and a number of other issues.

I think if it were spread out further insted of so close together

1 ton dually's, that's a truck. I've got 3. One with a pick-up bed, one with a utility body, one with a dump bed.

the only problem with that is that it only saves your rear suspension. if you load her up, aprox 45% of the load is transmitted through the front suspension as well.

it would save your suspension and tires from being overloaded. However, what about all the other important things like brakes, or gearing, ect that also decide how much you really want to haul or tow with a truck?

I'm foreseeing a lot of people buying these things, hitching onto an oversize trailer, and smoking their drive train in short order from overwork, or getting into a panic braking situation and destroying their truck even faster.

Heavy equipment trailers or livestock trailers hitch up easily with your vehicle.
I'm thinking that people are going to see problems when they try to tow the excavator on the semitrailer, with their pickup and that thing.

I use to have one of those on my little Ford Ranger back in '90. Some of the Hummers have this as an option along with an on board air compressor to automatically inflate it.
