Hitachi Roofing Nailer Help

I have the hitachi NV45AB2 coil roofing nailer. Used it new for the first time a few months back on a roofing job and its great...good balance, never jams, etc etc. The only thing I found wrong or just maybe not right was the amount of force needed to activate the sequential fire. It just seemed like I had to really pound the gun into the shingle. Now I have only done one roof with it and figured it would probably loosen up over more use. I noticed today at the store that the dewalt, senco, bostich models need a lighter amount of force to bump fire the nose. So am I missing something? Does the gun just need to be worked in more or is there some type of adjustment to reduce the pressure or a trick in removing the spring all together. I just figured you need to just tap nose on the shingle and it would fire...never expected to get shoulder pain like driving nails with a hammer all day.

Thanks

There's a knurled wheel on the right side of the gun near the contact element for depth of drive adjustment

[edt] my mistake im thinking of one of my other guns, there is a tooless depth of drive adjustment though. my guns an older model

Yup i know the one youre talking about. Adjusted it several times to set the depth of the nail...but thats about all it did. The force needed to drive the nose back so it fires is what Im looking to loosen up. Thanks

you do put a few drops of gun oil in the air inlet and lube the moving parts on the contact element including the drive pin?

yup sure do...it operates great...but compared to other brands, I just thought it wasnt that hard to press the nose down. But whatever, it works great. Maybe it just needs to be worked more. Unless there is a trick that Im missing.
