Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
Lowes is selling it for $199. Is it just a great deal or would I be better spending the $500+ for the Rigid or Bosch portables? I like the price but don't want to spend $199 then $500 because it is junk.

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
A builder friend of ours had bought this saw. Everyone that used it had nothing but complaints. Even with the third leg attached it would start to flip over when you tried to rip something. He finally took it back after about 3 weeks and got a refund. He went and bought the sears portable table saw and everyone said it worked great. I recently went and bought the same saw from Sears it was $459. Has nice large tires and was easier to set up then the Bosch saw. I did not see any of the saws as being a 1 man saw unless you have ramps to get them in and out of the vehicle. I did not get a chance to look at the Rigid but have been told it's very simiular.

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
I had two of these and nothing but problems, when the second one died I went with the Rigid and have been very happy with it, as Ken said the Rigid is quite a bit heavier and requires two people to put it in and out of the truck. Other than that I can drop the legs and set the saw up in no time by my self. Also they are currently offering the lifetime service agreement for no extra charge.

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
Thanks
You all may have saved me from making a $199 mistake. I was at depot yesterday and theirs is very sturdy and seems like it will last. Just have to wait till I have the right job to justify it I guess. |

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
I just bought the RIGID portable table saw and really like it. It is heavy duty enough for whatever I throw at it yet it operates very smoothly and refined. As far as loading it on my truck, I simply wheel it up parallel to the tailgate, lift it by the wheels, rotate the wheels onto the tailgate, then lift and push from the other side. I do this all the time by myself as well as with my miter saw that I have mounted to the RIGID MSUV cart. No problems. Oh and by the way, I'm not some 6'2" 215 lb. ripped, strapping young buck either. It just takes some common sense and leveraging.
Hope that helps.

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
I have the Ridgid 10" table saw as well. I load it in and out of my truck all the time. I roll it by the truck and drop the legs. Then I pick up where the wheels are and "walk" the legs a couple of steps till the wheels are on the tailgate. Then I lift up the other end and close the legs and roll it in. I almost the same thing with my MSUV cart too. I just dont drop the legs. I just lift the wheel end and "walk" the other end till the wheels are on the tailgate. As far as the saw goes... I dont use it all the time but when I do use I use for about an hour straight.

Re: Hitachi 10" Job Site Table Saw
I have the bosch with the gravity rise stand. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better portable table saw. It rivals my delta unisaw shop saw for accuracy. For me its a no brainer, i wouldnt buy anything but the bosch.
