Hats Off To Bosch.........

i bought the bosch 10" table saw with stand about 5 years ago and have loved this saw since then, but recently, while sliding it in and out of my truck(plywood floor) i have noticed that the base is chipping at the bottom, so i'm finding little green pieces of plastic once and a while.

i have always been bothered by this, and decided to write them an email on their support page online.

I recieved my response today saying that they'll send me out a free replacement base!

I still have to swap the old one out, but at least it was free and it's not even in warranty anymore and they still are doing this. maybe they realized it was weak back then and have changed it slightly? not sure.

i'm not even rough with this saw. just not sure why it started to get tiny little cracks in it, and some chips. not like i was tossing it around or dropping it.

anyways. i think it was great for them to stand behind their product even when they could have told me to go buy a new one.
I'll remember this when I have to make my next purchase, most companies wouldn't have replaced it like that.

Pretty cool Dan!

That's always encouraging to hear that about a company. It makes me want to consider them first for the next tool purchase.

Hey, you think you guys will see any snow or ice this weekend?

Cool Dan!!
I've never heard so many good things like that about a companythan I have with Bosch. Great tech support and I've heard about them doing what they did for you dozens of times over for other people as well......
Can't wait till my piece a crap DeWalt drills get stolen so I can replace them with Bosch...as well as that piece a sh#* jig saw that broke twice (and i ain't gettin it fixed this time). And oh yeh...the batteries seem to be worse every year they make em'.

That is obviously a fluke, and i would give them a chance again. Bosch is the parent company to Skill(we all know how much skill's worms are used). For Bosch's worm drive, they use Skills gears, and motor, the only difference is the detailed plate, rafter hanger, detachable cord, and casing.

I have a Bosch router table, built out of MDF, the slots for holding the fence wollered out and the fence would not stay in place unless I clamp it. I emailed them and they sent me a FREE top to replace it. That is poor design with good customer service. Maybe they will remedy the problem in the future. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I have several of Boschs tools and overall very pleased.

I found that out after it burned up.I had wondered why it was so close in design to begin with.Though I prefer Skil over the other brands,I've had some trouble with them over the years. In their defense I cut A lot of stone.I just thought the more expensive Bosch might be a better design,It wasn't.I wonder about the possibility that even though it is the same armature it might have been produced at a different plant.Anyways I'll stick with the less expensive Skil.

Re: Hats Off To Bosch.........

did the saw burn up because you were using a lighterweight cord than is recommended? i got the bigfoot saw this past summer and love it, haven't used it really hard yet, but i cut wood, not stone, i do know that they recommend no longer than a 50 ft 10 gauge cord, or a 100ft 8 gauge cord for these saws to run on. anything lighter burns them out quickly. not many places sell cords that heavy, so i just make my own.

this table saw is the only bosch tool i have, most of my cordless is milwaukee, and i like them but stick with them because i've invested the time to have so many batteries etc. loktor drills are awesome. if i had to go out and buy all new tools, and make it one brand, so all the batteries work, bosch would be towards the top of the list.

i like that little 10amp driver they have, 90 degree, small, i want to get one, because it'll be handy for spots when my 18volt big drill won't fit in, or is just over powered.

I was actually buying my router table, the day that they recalled those tops. they wouldnt let me purchase it because of the recall. It was about 5 months ago.

Re: Hats Off To Bosch.........

There are two things that I recommend Bosch does, 1, make a cordless finish nailer, and two make a better cordless saw.

I'm a fan of the corded bosch- I don't like the cordless system either. otherwise the Bosch is worth the extra money over the skil. I have the skil, but that's because I got it used for $80

You like Bosch ...you'll love this...all we need is money...lol.
Check it out on their site...I couldn't get the picture to print here.

Choice of Battery
At this point, everyone knows the advantages of lithium ion rechargeable batteries: They're lighter and have longer runtimes than both nicad and niMH batteries. Bosch has taken a unique approach to the new technology. The company's new 36-volt lithium ion tools work with two different battery packs. The FatPack, the larger option, offers a longer runtime for demanding applications; the SlimPack weighs about the same as a 14.4-volt nicad pack, for greater portability and less user fatigue. The companion drill, Model 38636-01, provides up to 600 inch-pounds of torque and features a metal ratcheting chuck and a 15-position clutch. You can find it on the Web with two SlimPack batteries and a case for $400. An optional FatPack battery costs about $160.
